I was just going over this yesterday. From there is a fantastic cornucopia recipe made out of breadsticks I think it is. My dh and I made it like 8 yrs. ago and now this year I re-found the recipe and we will do with our 4 yo dd. We are going to my mom's about 2 hrs. away and leaving Wed. at 12 noon. We usually go down there because my Grandfather is still alive and won't travel up to us and we'd hate for him to be without family. For Xmas, my parents come up for xmas eve and then we all stay home on xmas day.
Mom has to work so I will get there early to peel potatoes, etc. so she can have some time w/the grandkids. I will also be making the pumpkin and apple pies and sweet potatoes w/apples (got tons of apples to use up from the orchard!) in addition to that cool cornucopia. Just go to allrecipes.com and do a search under cornucopia!
Answer:
I just looked up the cornucopia recipe, it does look cool! I think the kids would love doing this, great idea, thanks!
As far as Thanksgiving it is just the 5 of us this year, so we will be having the traditional :
Turkey
Homemade mashed potatoes and gravy
green bean casserole
buttered corn
stuffing
cranberry sauce
rolls
pumpkin pie
apple pie
veggie tray w/ dip
cheese and crackers
black olives
Answer:
My MIL and FIL are hosting so I'm off the hook. They usually invite around 20 people so we just contribute.
10 lbs of my mashed potato casserole
Eggnog pumkin pie (by popular demand)
an appetizer of some sort
My parents are joining us so I'm sure I'll help my mom with something to share too.
Answer:
Let's see.
Turkey, I'd love it fried but will probably have to settle for baked.
Sweet potatoes
Green Bean casserole
Rolls- not LC
Mashed Fauxtatoes and gravy
Cranberry sauce- not LC
Veggies/pasta/cheese sauce
LC pumpkin pie or cheesecake
maybe something chocolate
DH has to leave for work at 2pm so it'll have to be early. We may go to one of my sister's houses after he heads out but that depends on their schedule. They are notoriously time challenged. Dinner planned for noon, we actually eat at 2-3pm.

I wanted to let you know when I did low carb we did our turkey in the deep fryer.Once you drop the bird in the oil it seals the outside and you don't have a greasy turkey. We ate if for a long time too and it never messed with my weight.I would say go for it.
Answer:
I've had fried turkey before and loved it. Unfortunately our friend who fries turkeys will be out of town so we can't get him to di it. Maybe for Christmas.
I did forget to add broccili casserole to my list.
I also want to try something new with cranberry sauce. I don't like the "Tower O' Cranberry" that comes out of the can and it's not low carb. I'm looking to try something with fresh/frozen cranberries. If anyone has a low carb recipe or easily convertible recipe, let me know.

I was just fretting about Thanksgiving this morning. I wish we could skip it!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like to have it here with my mom, grandma and family. But if I don't speak up soon, my sil will invite us over ( a long trip!) and then I won't get to have dinner with mom and gram (gram can't take the trip and mom doesn't like to go and I don't want them to be alone). But I don't want to speak up to soon because I don't want to end up having dinner for 25 people!!!!
I am hoping that it will be small and at my house, well see...... if so this will be the menue.
Turkey w/ homemade stuffing
mashed potatoes / gravey
sweet potato casserole
Fresh green beans
homemade apple sauce
rolls
homemade cranberry sauce
pies pumkin and cherry ( I will probably cheat w/ have a wonderful bakery in town)
Answer:
I’m not sure on the side dishes yet, but the main course will consist of a smoked turkey purchased from a local butcher.
