Oprah today

Ask:
Is anyone else watching this?
Answer:

I saw the show description & decided not to watch. I knew it would just make me sad and angry.
Answer:

Yeh, I probably shouldn't be watching it either. I look at Aidan and watching him walking around tearing the house apart and just can't imagine how anyone can harm a child.
Answer:

That girl was just a county or two away from me. There was some hubbub on the news about using tax money to get her to a jail that would allow Oprah's team to tape. Anyway, I had to stop watching. It just made me so sick. I couldn't believe it. I don't believe in abortion, but I think in the end it would have been kinder. I'm still a little upset as I listen to DS laughing with DH.
Answer:

Well, I watched the whole thing. I think more out of curiosity to see what Oprah had to say to her than what she had to say. At the end Oprah told her about her pregnancy at 14 and how she had hid it until she was sent to live with her father and her ankles began to swell and he took her to the hospital and when the dr asked her if she was pregnant, she confessed. And the stress of all that caused her to go in to labor and the baby died. Oprah said "I'm going to tell you what my father said to me, "You are not your past and only you can decide what you do with your future."
Answer:

I hope Oprah's words helped that girl. They are very true. Can you imagine living w/ that??? I hope that girl is getting some major help.
Answer:

I watched it and DH watched part of it with me before he left for work. We both noticed that although she made crying faces, she really did not shed many tears until the end of the show.
She knew exactly what she was doing, you don't stab a baby in the chest or give it a skull fracture if you want to " take away his pain". She admitted she had a plan and a goal to hide the pregnancy, her boyfriend went along with it. You can't tell me she was going to just hand it over to an adoption agency after she gave birth to him, she obviously knew she had to dispose of him somehow. Such a stupid thing to do, when all she had to do was tell her parents and let some loving couple adopt that baby. I just do not understand in today's times that teens still feel they need to hide pregnancies, it's not the 1950's anymore!! Six years for her is nothing, she still is young enough to have a productive life ahead of her.

That may be true but the stigma is still there. I know plenty of people that having a child out of wedlock was just not not an alternative so I can definitely see this happening albeit terribly wrong (murder!)
Answer:

She made me sick with her fake regret when describing trying to keep the baby from suffering, so she stabbed him. I couldn't take anymore. I changed it.

I noticed the same thing. And Oprah sure wasn't buying into it. IF and that's a big IF the baby's face and head were deformed like she said it was, it probably had something to do with the boyfriend STANDING on her stomach! That poor child was doomed even before he was born.
