Ask:
Hey ladies~
Thought I would see if any of you have any experience with a Foley Catheter induction. I had an OB appt today - 40 weeks and 4 days - and nothing has changed. Other than I'm measuring at 43 cm's and last week was 44 cm's.
Since I"m trying for a VBA2C, my OB is concerned about the size of my uterus and the amount of stretching it's doing. I understand his concerns and am a little concerned myself.
I've been having contractions for a few days. Strong ones, but they go away after a shower and bed time. Baby has dropped and I have a ton of pressure. When on earth is my body going to kick things into high gear?
Would the FC Induction be a good route? My next appt is Monday the 27th. I'm trying to get as much info. on it as possible before then.
TIA!

Answer:
Hmmm....I personally never had a foley catheter induction or even heard of one, but then I had my kids a million years ago. I was induced with pitocin, but they gave me some sort of vaginal suppository the evening before which was supposed to "soften my cervix" and make it easier to induce me. The suppository worked well and did "soften my cervix" and made me dilate a little I think. Sorry no more help. I know you're dying to get that baby out of there!!
Answer:
is that where they start you dilating?,....if so they did that to me with both of mine...they put this thing in and give it atug every so often and when it comes out your starting to dilate...I didn't dialate with mine so they did both that and pitocin with both mine.
Answer:
Tracy - yeah, basically. It would dialate me to three centimeters, then fall out. HOwever, since it's a VBA2C, they will not use any other types of medication to induce because of higher risk of uteran rupture. I wouldn't let them even if they wanted to. LOL
Answer:
ok....lol.....just make sure they lay you down...I wasn't laid down all the way with the first one and it really hurt...but the second one I was all the way flat and not so bad...uncomfortable but not bad
