Ask:
My ds is just over 16 mos and I am so sad. He is so interested in the potty after watching his brother so on Thanksgiving morning he woke up with a dry diaper so I put him on the potty. He went, I did the little yeah party thing and he loved it. So since Thursday he has used the potty atleast once a day. Nothing I am pushing but eh will go to the bathroom door and say "please" so I help him. He is so proud of himself. I just can't help but be sad and wonder where my baby went! My first ds started going to the potty at 16 mos also but I think I was more trained than he was. Maybe this one will be easy with a big brother to follow.
Answer:
It's a sad and exciting time! I felt that way when my youngest became potty trained!
Answer:
Yes I am sure I will find it sad when my youngest is trained. At the same time I will be doing a happy dance! He will be 3 in Feburary and we have been discussing it, but he really has not shown much of an interest.
Answer:
my is 17 months and doing the same thing. She asks to go "pot pot". We are going to really start working on it this coming week. Daycare is not helping right now since she is so young, she is the only one in her class showing interest, so they are not pushing her to go. So I have the next week off and that is what we are working on
Answer:
I think it great that babies that young show interest. Bu I'm not in any rush I'll wait intil mine is two.
Answer:
that was iniatially my plan as well, she started showing interest about dirty diapers at 14 months, got the potty to have her start practicing sitting when I went to the bathroom and then about a month later she started saying "pot pot" and patting her belly and I asked her if she needed to go to the potty and she nodded her head. Took her to poty and she went. We have not been forcing the issue, just per her request, she goes 2 or 3 times successfully most days I am home. I word 3-4 days a week 12 hour shifts
