nursing to whole milk ?

Ask:
My baby is now 12 mos. and has been given the ok to start whole milk. I have been nursing her exclusively. I always offer her a juice cup with her snacks and meals, but she barely drinks any. I had planned to do as I did with my ds and switch out one feeding a week with a milk bottle and then after the three weeks switch out the bottles to sippy cups. Well she isn't going for that! She will take a couple swigs from the bottle, then chew on it ,then push it away and just fuss and crawl all over me till I nurse her. I've tried letting dh do it. Nope. I tried just putting the milk in a cup. She just knocks it to the floor. Anyone else have this problem? I was so looking forward to weaning her and having myself a big o'l margherita for Christmas! lol!
Answer:

I nurse little diva, too. Only yesterday I gave her milk for the first time. I've had her drinking water since six months out of a cup. Especially here in the desert, I wanted her to get used to it, as ds did - he loves water now. Have you tried that yet? Also, with the milk, I found that warming it up first worked better. DS still doesn't like cold milk at six years old. Also, try something a little sweet, like juice or yogurt in the cup. I left the stoppers out until she was hooked, then put it in. I thought putting breast milk in the cup would be good, but didn't work for either child. Nope. They want the warm, soft dispenser! Good luck! I'm ready for the margherita, too!

I also give her the cup in the highchair, or when she's playing on the floor or in the car. Never in places where we nursed before. That's for cuddling.
Answer:

I would completely nix the bottle, just go straight to a sippy cup!
Answer:

I agree just try using sippy cups. My ds didn't switch till he was 15 moths old, all him though. My youngest didn't wean till she was 2. They really stopped on their own up to me I was hoping a little longer for the youngest. Just to keep her health up.
