Answer:
I would have had a talk with teacher. I'm bad when it comes to teachers. I did not have good experience as a kid. I always have to watch myself. Tell your dd we all think she is right.

Answer:
I think I'd talk to her teacher.
Answer:
Okay, as the teacher, you all knew I would give my two cents! Because of our state testing, we are required to be VERY particular about student writing. Do we agree? For the most part, we agree that things are getting very silly, but we have a job to do. Our state tests (in Missouri) are based on student writing - not multiple choice. We are required to teach them to answer a question so that they are answering every part. The first question did ask a yes or no response. Is it silly? Yes. Is it over the top? Absolutely. But that's the way our state expects us to teach. I doubt if the teacher has much say in this, but she'll be the one who gets the angry phone calls from parents. Doesn't seem fair on our end, and yet we understand where parents are coming from.
Good luck, and please try not to be too hard on the teacher!
Answer:
We always encourage Aurora to go back and ask when she thinks that she has answered something wrong. Dh actually emailed the teacher (very nicely) and the above is the response the teacher wrote back.
It's too bad the the system is trying to teach the kids that there is only ONE way to correctly answer questions. Seems a little "in the box" for me.
