Ask:
My husband has Cystic Fibrosis, and when I was reordering his medication on the CF Pharmacy website, I found this recall. It only affects people with weakened immune systems, especially CF, but the baby wipes sold at Walmart and Sam's Club, under the Equate name were recalled due to contamination. The release that I found, the link is below, said the contaminated wipes were characterized by a sour milk smell, so you would know if they were bad. It says the wipes were found to have the presence of B. cepacia, which is nasty for people with CF.
If this concerns you at all, please read the whole release to find out the dates of the recall. It won't affect most people, but just in case, I thought I would pass it on.
Thanks,
Carol
Answer:
I don't think I would be affected, but I sure would not want to use wipes that smell like spoiled milk anyway - especially on my children. GROSS!!!
Answer:
I know! Luckily they have that smell so people will know something is wrong with them. I would think a baby's immune system would be considered "weakened" since they are so small. Glad that was taken care of!
Answer:
This is exactly why I NEVER buy generic stuff for my ds (personal care items)! I know it can happen with any brand but I've seen too many Walmart brands for this kind of stuff being recalled.
Answer:
thank you for posting this, I buy these all the time and have an older daughter with an weakend immune system and would worry about her getting into these. She likes to help change the babys diaper. I will definitly check for a bad odor.
