Confessions of a Cereal Junkie

Ask:
I must confess because I know you all will trully understand me.

Today I bought 78 boxes of cereal. Not only that, but I also came home with 20 gallons of milk.

Now for the story.
DH needed cereal and I saw that it was on sale at Rainbow this week. buy 6 get $10 off, plus for each 6 you got a print out for two free gallons of milk. I has coupons and knew that there where blinkie at the store. Also Wenesday is rainbow will double up to 5 coupons when you spend at least $25. I got 18 boxes of cereal for a total of $15.?? after the double coupon, plus I got three sets of coupons for two free gallons of milk up to $7. As I was bagging things up the manager let me know that for right now the computer was taking off the full $7 for each two gallons of milk purchased even if you didn't spend that much on milk. He actually told me to put my things in the car and come back in and do the deal again.

Second time around I purchased 18 boxes, 6 gallons of store brand 2%. Used blinkies from the aisle and the free milk coupons for a total for $4.68.

Did it again, (November is national food share month) This time it was $8.?? for 18 boxes and 6 gallons.

After this I headed to a meeting I had and while I was there realized I had never bought the oranges I was wanting (on sale BOGO) or the chips my sister had asked me to pick up for her. After I'm meeting I headed back to the store.

Time #4 was two 5 lbs bags of oranges, 12 boxes of cereal and 4 gallons of milk. Total $3.88

Time #5 was two bags of chips, 12 boxes of cereal and 4 gallons of milk. $4.66?

I split up the last two because they were each just over $25 so I got double coupons on each of them.

So the tally for the day, 78 boxes of General Mills cereal, twenty gallons of milk and coupons for yet another six gallons. 10lbs of oranges, two bags of chips. Aprox total $35...Husband who loves me for buying him more Count Chocula then his little heart could ever desire--Priceless.

wow. my rainbow the price has to be over 25 after the coupons.
Answer:

That is something. I don't know what i would do with all of that but it is a great deal.
Answer:

Awesome Deal !!!! Are you going to freeze the milk? Our Kroger had Cheerios 4 for $10, then an automatic $4 off the 4 boxes (down to 4 for $6) and I had coupons for $1 off each so I got 4 for $2 (and did that about 4 times). I thought I was doing well, but you are awesome!!!
Answer:

Wow! That's an INCREDIBLE deal. Good for you!

My battery was dying last night as I wrote, but I wanted to say that I was able to get rid of 11 gallons of milk last night on my way home.

Two went to my mom
Two to my sister
One each to two different friends
I was also able to get rid of five more when I brought my mom her two gallons. She had a meeting at church last night so I just drove out there hoping that others might want some and three different families too some.

It is just me and DH so there is no way we could drink all the milk before it went bad. We don't have a deep freeze so my plan was always to give it away. I got so many of them because the overage on the milk coupons made it worth doing the deal a couple of time.

I figure we will keep about 50 boxes of cereal which means we're set for about six months. I plan give the others away to a friend and the food shelf at church. Her family is having a really hard time keeping up with everything and I know that every little bit help so I figure she can have as much cereal as she wants and then the rest I will bring to church.

Out of my nine gallons of milk left I think we are keeping three and then again my friend can have as much as she wants. I have a couple of other families I know could use it if she doesn't want six gallons.

BTW DH has 19 boxes of Count Chocula. I'm not sure if he has ever loved me more.
