tylenol, motrin, advil?

Ask:
What does everyone use for their kids?
Like for teething?
Fever?
Earaches?
Do you use name brand or generic?
What about for colds?
Cough?
Just curious as I know every pediatrician recommends different ones!
Answer:

I use both motrin and tylenol. I don't ever use advil. When my kids were babies I used tylenol most. Now that they are older I use motrin most. I only use tylenol when they are running a high fever and I need to alternate. I sometimes buy the generic brands. You can check the labels and most of them have the same ingrediants. For colds and coughs I like robitussin.
Answer:

motrin only, I find that when I use tylenol its less efective. And for colds triaminic, my ped. says its the most effective but I dont know that I see much difference.
Answer:

My nurse friend has me convinced to start with Advil (generic, of course) and stagger in Tylenol if needed. We use generic stuff here.

For cough, my doctor gave us samples of stuff that I use.
Answer:

I mainly use tylenol unless I have to double dose and use motrin too. I have always used name brands until recently and I started buying the generic. For thier stuffy noses they have right now, my Dr highly reccommended Mucinex and if works great!
Answer:

I've hear tylenol is best for fevers and Motrin for pain. So that's what I do. And I always use generic. (Don't forget that babies under 6 mo shouldn't have Motrin.)
Answer:

Almost always motrin and the generic
Answer:

I prefer motrin b/c I think it works better but do use tylenol as well. Always buy generics unless name brand is cheaper w/a coupon. For colds, I like "Little Colds" It's a mix of tylenol and two other products and works well. Teething tablets help w/teething and then I don't feel as though I'm dosing him w/tylenol or advil too much.
Answer:

Motrin doen't do much for dd, but it does seem to help ds. I also use teething tablets. I always buy generic unless, as someone else said, brand is cheaper w/coupon.

Our ped reccomends tussin or tussin dm for coughs and I still like sudafed for colds, although it is getting hard to find and is expensive. Our ped gave us a RX for a decongestant with sudafed in it and the generic price makes it cheaper than buying it over the counter.

I don't like to medicate unless absolutely needed!

I always try things like humidifiers and such for colds before I use meds!
Answer:

Ummm....Children's Advil IS ibuprofen, which is also Motrin. Right?!?! That is what we have always been told! WE also alternate both that and tylenol for fevers. Otherwise, we use tylenol as much as possible. Ibuprofen is tough on a lot of tummies....so it is only used when tylenol doesn't work!
