Ask:
I keep a baby fulltime who will be 1 next week. We started this week getting him off..but he seems SO little to do this to!!!
Answer:
Oooohhhh! I was a bad mommy!!! DD #1 was very attached to here bottle, she was about 2. DS #2 was probably about 1 1/2. DD #3 was a little over a year. DS #4 was almost 3 before I took away his night time bottle!!! DS #5 was about 2 when he gave up that last night time bottle. DS #6 was about a year when he did not want it any more as was DS #7 and grandson. I know my mom always thought it was terrible that I let them have bottles as long as they wanted them. But it did not have any lasting effect!
Answer:
I am going through this right now. I had my first 3 off the bottle right around a year...give or take a month. #4 will be 1 on the 28th. I started introducing the sippy cup (mealtime mostly) around 7 months & she LOVED it! I wasn't religious with it though. Now within the past few weeks, she doesn't want ANYTHING to do with it...she pushes it away!! What am I to do??
Answer:
Josie basically went from BF to a tippy cup. I think that we used a bottle for awhile between 9mos and 1 yr - but that's it.
Answer:
my daughter was no bottle during the day by 1 and only before bed till almost 13 months. My ped told me there is always a window for kids and if you miss it the bottle is going to be around for a while and there it was up to me. I didn't want my dd to become dependent on it so we dh and I choose it was time.
Answer:
Both of mine were 2. I know I let them keep it too long!
Answer:
My 1st dd weaned herself off of it at 10 mos, we had to put formula in her cup. DS never had a bottle he bf until one then went straight to cup. DD #2 is BF and we plan to do her that way also so she'll never have a bottle. One is a good age, I have a pet peeve of bottles and pacifiers past one, sorry to those who kept using it, but walking and talking is old enough for a cup!
Answer:

I had the same problem with ds (#2). He took to the sippy cup very well, but only juice/water!! I took 1 bottle away every few days, offering only milk and water in the sippy cup. He still didn't want milk or formula from the cup. The nurse suggested I try a different sippy cup, so I gave him milk in the old tupperware cups and that worked a little better. Within a week of cutting all but the night bottle, he is now drinking milk from the reg sippy cup. He gets his last bottle tonight. I am not buying anymore formula and he doesn't seem to depend on the bottle anymore!! Oh, he is 12mths.

I got a lot of flack for this, but both my kids were around 3 when they totally gave up the bottle. I never let them walk around with it or go to sleep with it, they only used them when they were thirsty. Personally, I had no problem with it and discussed how I was using it with both my pediatrician and the dentist who agreed that what I was doing would have no ill effects.
