How old were yours when you took them off formula?

Ask:
The other thing I am doing with the baby I keep this week is getting him off of formula. We are starting with half milk and half formula. He will begrudgingly drink it...but bless his little heart!! I feel so bad.
Answer:

Well, with my first 3 they were 6 months because that is what the dr used to tell you to do. The younger 4 were a year and so was my grandson.
Answer:

yeah I'm at that point with my DS (turned 1 last week).... tried giving him a sippie of milk this morning in place of his bottle... didn't go so well.

I"m not sure how to wean both formula & the bottle (tbh I think the bottle is my bigger obstical here) - he gets one in the morning and one as he goes to bed.

I'd be interested in hearing what worked for everyone else!!
Answer:

I mostly breastfed my boys, but I started them on sippy cups at around 9 months. Sorry I cant be of more help.

Grey, Maybe just offer the bottle at night for awhile? Slowly wean him from it.
Answer:

around 11 1/2 months to 12 months we did the switch. She was only one formula during the day time only I nursed am and pm. So she wasn't really attached to the bottle. I also kept warming her milk till about 15 months that helped a lot. We also went from the bottle to a NUBBY sippy to a reg sippy cup. The Nubbys soft sippy spout was I swear the trick.
Answer:

Both of mine were a year old. And we did the half milk, half formula thing. It worked well for us, but I didn't try to take their bottles at the same time. I didn't have them off bottles until they were almost 2.
Answer:

my ds refused to breast feed, despite having a lactation consultant at the house, lots of hard work etc. He used formula until 4 months, then whole milk, which was what the pediatrician said was ok in 1989. He used a bottle until about 10 months, when he had a horrible ear infection, and it hurt to suck. So I quick put them away, and he was good with a sippy cup. He had been using the cup since about 3 months most of the time for meals.
My dd 5 years later breast feed for 8 months, went to whole milk, and used the bottle until 2 and a half. I thought she would take it to college. However after about 14 months I switched her to only water in the bottle according to my pediatricians advice. She used the sippy cup for milk during the day. She used a pacifier until she was 4 though, but only in her bed. I don't know, she seemed to have a bigger need than her brother. He never did use a pacifier.
Answer:

Both girls were 10 months, and both went strait to the milk without doing the half and half. they were fine.
Answer:

Ped said to start mixing around 11 mths with the goal to all milk and no bottle around 1yr.

I never put any milk in the bottle.

I heard somewhere that it would be easier to take the bottle away if they never get the sweet milk taste from it. They will prefer the sweetness of the milk over the formula and will give up the bottle for the cup. Also, I never put juice in the bottle either.

It worked like a charm for dd but was a little more difficult with ds, but we got there!

I did the same thing. Formula from bottle for #1 and #3 (#2nursed the whole year and went straight to sippy cups) then milk from sippy cups.
