Ask:
My 8 yr old has been having issues with his asthma lately. I took him in the other day and they put him on Zyrtec once a day and an inhaler (said he was getting too old for the nebs and an inhaler is more portable.) I got him the pills for the Zyrtec since I know he will not take liquid.
Well he took them for 2 days and his cough was getting better then the 3rd day he did not want to take it. Got himself so worked up that he threw it up!!! Yesterday he just flat out refused. His cough is way worse again.
What can I do? Doesn't an inhaler taste pretty much like a nebulizer? (I have never had either myslef) I don't know what to do with him!!!!! Stubborn child!!!
Answer:
at that age I would cut all extra curricular activites. no tv/computer/etc. I am mean when it comes to that stuff. I would also tell him he will have to somehow repay for all the trips to doc you have to make b/c he won't take meds. perhaps extra chores? also no outdoor recess, I would suspect that may put him at higher risk for attack.

Answer:
I agree with allgirls. I am strict when it comes to mine taking their medicine. I would start taking stuff away. Surely he would much rather take his medicine, than to have all his activities away. Good luck!
