Ask:
My mother in law always sends a check so I can buy gifts for the kids from her. This year we decided to get everyone an Air Hockey table. Well they had one at Fleet Farm on sale for $169 marked down from $299!!! They (of course) were out, but had 3 in transit. So I got a rain check for one. (this was 1 1/2 weeks ago!) They are still not in!!! They still show them as in transit!! Do you guys think I should wrap up the rain check? My kids are 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade and 8th grade. I don't want them to think they aren't getting anything from grandma and grandpa!
Answer:
I think they're old enough to understand this. Why not print out a picture of it, if you can find one? Let them know that grandma and grandpa's gift is just coming later. I think they'll be fine with it.

My thoughts exactly!!
Answer:
Before when I've had gifts that haven't arrived that I've ordered, I print off the picture and then wrap it in a box. That way at least they get to open something.
Answer:
I agree with the picture. And, by the way, I'm being told that many stores won't get their trucks in until after New Years Day. Target and Big 5 told me this tonight.
