Ask:
Does anyone on the board have a Upromise account for their child/children?
Answer:
I've had one for alittle while now and so does my mil. It's like collecting pocket change for college. Someday it will at least help pay for books. Every little bit counts. When you have I think it's $30 in the account you can roll it over to a 529 plan. My biggest contributor to my account is the gas station I use. You can also shop online through their website and hundreds of places contribute as well. I'm just sorry I didn't sign up a long time ago.
Answer:
I've had one for about four years...it has almost $200 in it.
Answer:
By some miracle I found Upromise while researching college info. That was over 5 years ago and since then I have accumulated around $80 in the regular account (that's with living overseas for two years) and once I found out I was pregnant, decided to open the 529 account. Our account are connected and we do the $50 a month allotment into the Upromise 529 each month. We rolled our existing savings into the 529 so we already have a nice chunk of change for DS's college. I can't say enough good things about it. Its made saving super easy and I love getting $ and ¢ back on purchases.
Answer:
I just started one for our DS (2). You can link family members and friends on to your account, so my parents and in-laws could link on if they wanted to contribute.
Answer:
I have had the account for a couple years, but I forgot about it. Total bummer since I do sooooooooooo much shopping online and I would have a couple hundred by now easily. Anyway, I just started contributing in Oct and have started accumulating some money for the kids. What an easy way to save!!
