Anyone see Charlotte's Web yet?

Ask:
I will be finishing up reading the book to my boys tonight and i plan on taking them to see the movie on Saturday. We got four free passes. Yayyyyyyyyyy!!! So has anyone seen it and did you enjoy it?

I just read the part where Charlotte died and i am such a wussy i started to cry. My boys were wondering what was wrong with me. Haha. I couldn't read the last chapter cuz my voice kept cracking.
Answer:

I saw it with my dd as part of a Girl Scout outing. It was pretty good. I already knew the ending so there was no surprise for me. The special effects are really good.

The only nitpick I had about the movie was I couldn't tell exactly what time period they were trying to set this in (50's, 60's, 70's or 80's). When you first see the people, they are wearing old-fashioned clothes (Dakota Fanning in cutsie dresses for school, the mother in floral-print dresses) and people are driving late 50's/early 60's cars. So I'm thinking "Oh, this takes place around 1962." No one ages in the movie, but as the movie progresses, the cars get more modern (like a '71 El Camino and an '85 brown Buick station wagon that shows up MANY times as part of a crowd of cars). Meanwhile, the mother and some other women are still wearing their 1950's floral-print dresses. Inconsistencies like that kind of bug me, but the majority of people aren't as nitpicky as me and won't notice this. Yes, I'm an annoying perfectionist.

If you and your kids like the book then you will enjoy the movie.
Answer:

You'd better take some Kleenex! I cried and so did my 7 year old daughter. We all enjoyed it a lot, including DH and my other daughter who is 4. I cry during the animated version when she dies and I was determined not to cry this time. But in a way because she was so 'real', that made it even harder not to cry.
Answer:

I knew she was going to die but it still hit me for some reason.

Starlite~ I will look out for that. I was wondering as i was reading it if they were going to keep it in the same time period. Mostly because when they were talking about giving Fern and Avery .25 to go play at the fair the entire day. Now that would take what about $20.

merandmalmom~ i will remember my kleenex for sure!!!
Answer:

We went yesterday and we all loved it!!! Yes, I cried also as did my dd.
Answer:

I can't wait to see it! I am taking my DD-6 1/2 this weekend. It was one of my favorite books as a kid.
Answer:

I took my dd (4) and her friend last week, and she (dd) bawled her little eyes out!! She'd seen the old, animated version tons of times, with no tears, but cried so loud and hard at this one-and the entire way home! It was a cute movie, the rat (Templeton) was pretty funny and it was good overall. However, dd said "I never want to come back here again!!" Oh well.
Answer:

i'm on the pto for our school district and we paid for both our elementaries k-5th to go on the last day before break the kids all loved it and had a great time ds(5) talked about all christmas weekend....
Answer:

It's a good movie for the whole family. We've read Charlotte's Web and have both cartoons (1 and 2) so it was neat to see it brought to life.
Answer:

I wish I had read it to dd first (but I didn't). We took her the Friday before Christmas to see it. It was her first movie in the theater and she loved it! (and did really well and sat through the whole thing! She was such a good girl!) Anyway, sorry, I was excited it was her 1st movie at the theaters! She loved it and she just turned 3 yo in December. She loved Templeton (the rat) and of course Me the softy cried a couple times. She asked me "mommy are you crying?" She didn't cry - I think she's too young but she did know that Charolette died. My dh liked it too! Go and enjoy!!!!
