Ask:
Yesterday, my little boy had to go get his 2 month check up. They gave him four shots and an oral vac. When we got home, he developed his first fever. The doctor told me it would be normal and just give him some tylenol. I just feel really bad for making him get sick. I hate shots! Now, I know when he goes back to the doctor in two more months, he most likely will get sick again.
Answer:
My first DD got sick the first time she had vaccinations, but when she was a little older (4 months) I gave her Tylenol before the appointment and she was fine after. Second DD never had a problem.
Answer:
Good Idea about giving tylenol before the appt. Thank you!
Answer:
My older son runs fevers with vaccinations although my younger son has had absolutely no problems at all. I know that it's hard to see them miserable but remember that the purpose of vaccinations is to prevent an illness that is infinitely more serious and could even be deadly - so it's worth it in the long run.
Answer:
DD reacts to every shot she gets. For her first round at 2mths she spiked a 102 fever on Friday night!! I always give her tylenol before her appointments and keep giving it to her for about 48 hours after. Because she reacts soo much, I never make appointments that involve shots for Friday, always beginning or middle of the week so I can speak to the office nurse if we hace a problem!
