Ask:
I have a big, black entertainment center in my guest room. It is completley empty, but is too heavy to move to the basement and my BF does not want to get rid of it.
I would like some ideas on how to disguise it or use it in some way. My guest room has blues and pinks with an angel theme.
TIA!
Answer:
We had an entertainment center when we moved in our house 3 years ago that we where going to put in our basement rec room, but wouldn't fit down our stairs! We ended up putting it in our bedroom. Our TV fit nicely...one side opened up for storage...we put books in it...the other side was shelving behind glass for DVD player so on....I bought some lined baskets and put on the shelves....it shows through the glass and its like having another dresser....we use it for socks, undies, so on.....the bottom we put shoes in. You can try to re-purpose it like that. If its black and it doesn't match your decor, you can try to paint it......
Answer:
I would maybe try to repaint it a softer color to go with the pinks and blues. Or if that isn't an option, bring more black into the room so it looks like you planned for it to be there. Like maybe some black frames around pictures, wall hangings, etc. Accesorize with black in other parts of the room.
As for the entertainmetn center itself, I'd fill it with books, some pretty baskets, decor accesories. You might be surprised how easily it 'fits in' with the room!
Answer:
Good ideas! Thanks ladies. I will incorporate these ideas and see what I can come up with.
Answer:
I was going to say to paint it, too. You may have to put a primer on if it has a veneer coating, but you could go with any color you want after that.
I use mine in our spare room for books, photo albums, and other storage, as well as for a spare tv, dvd/vcr, and the kids' v-smile game.
