I want it...I don't know how to get it...I share a closet with DH. We are not clothes horses by any means, but our closet seems cluttered. Does a simple closet mean NOTHING else is to kept in there? Right now I have a camcorder and a file box with important papers on the floor in the closet. Is that a no-no? Oh...I we keep our blankets in there too.

Id like to know why my own closet is such a mess when I dont even have that many clothes? I dont know what a simple closet is either. I think that haveing anything other than your clothes and shoes is a no no.

We have lots of things in our closet but we try our best to keep it organized and only keep clothes in there that we are regularly wearing. I keep a big rubbermaid container at the back and put all my summer stuff in there in the winter and all my winter stuff in there in the summer. I keep the wedding and funeral wear way at the back in case I need it. For clothes, I make sure anything that is old, doesn't fit, or I don't like anymore is gone so I can see clearly where everything is. I fold sweaters on the tops shelf and have shoe rack on the floor of the closet for extra shoes but even those we try and limit. My closet still isn't where I would like it to be. We have everything from cameras to to sheets and towels, to wrapping paper but I know where it all is and I don't have lots of things in there I don't need. My kids closets look way better than ours because they each get their own and they don't have to share.
I'd love to hear how other people manage their simple closets.

I go through my clothes regularly and get rid of the ones that I don't love or have a use for. My SO won't do this with his and so every few months I will pull out a stack of his old clothes and ask if he wants to keep them. I usually get rid of a few things this way
Right now, my closet has clothes, shoes, and extra overnight bags. We have a lot of room and a basement where I put a box of seasonal clothes.
I will admit that I have about 5+ items of clothes that I haven't worn, that I can't bear to part with. I think that the fact that it is organized is my reasoning for keeping these items.
Some of the items that I have are too nice to give to goodwill. I am going to try to give them to my sisters or my mom.
