I've bought stuff from Children's Orchard before, but never done any shopping at the local thrift store...until yesterday. I got my ds some very nice collared, button-down shirts from the GAP for $1.50 each. They had barely been worn and were very nice.
I was amazed at how much good quality, brand name stuff they carried. I didn't have a lot of time to look through everything, but I'm totally hooked...I'm going back soon.

I shop and donate to goodwill, thrift shop places. I have donated MANY Ralph Lauren and Tommy H stuff that my husands expanding behind can not longer fit into. Really nice stuff that I am too lazy to ebay. Actually most of the stuff I donate is very nice, very little is junk. And I love to find deals. I recently bought 2 pairs of stride rite shoes for 1.99 each. What a find!!!
Answer:
Check and see if your Goodwill has a quarter day. Ones here pick one day a week where the designated color is .25.
They are very addictive. They have the cheapest prices on kids books as well.

Aren't thrift stores fun? I am thrilled that dh thinks they are great, too. Before he met me, he had never stepped foot in one. I wish we had a Goodwill closer to us. We tend to go there when we visit my mom, or if we travel to a city. If we can get great clothes for a fraction of the price in a store (even a fraction of the lowest sale price!), then why not?!
Good luck in your future visits! Let us know if you get a really great deal.
Answer:
I live in a fairly large metropolitan-type area...there are thrift stores everywhere. The key is in finding a really good one!
