1/2 spending confessions

Ask:
As part of the January Challenge I thought it would help if we admitted to each other how we are doing

1/1 no spending
1/2 $6.67 at a bookstore-bought 1 new book that was 20% off and 1 used book with store credit so that cost .75
At Dollar General : 3 suave shampoo $6.00 total (will get $1.50 back in rebate)
1 birthday card and 1 anniversary card $1.00
bath mat (other one moldly on bottom, couldn't get clean enough) $6.00
childrens dimetap $3.50 after coupon (will get $1.00 back in rebate)
Ajax $1.25 after coupon
2 candles $2.00

Hopefully the books and candles will be my only weakness for buying things I don't absolutely need. Anyone else want to confess?
Answer:

I have not left the house the last two days so I have not spent anything yet.

I just read all the money saving tips on the other thread (is that the right term?) and staying home was one that was mentioned several times. I guess it does work!! WOW, and if I stayed home more I would get more done at home..... and my world would be more peaceful... money saving and more peaceful, sounds good to me. Let's see how I do with this long term!
Answer:

i went grocery shopping today. bought my groceries and diapers. checked for running shoes for the boys, but didn't find any in the store i was in.

looked at a pair of Curious George pyjamas that were marked down, but left them there.
i was going to go down the aisle with the magazines and books, but didn't.

i even brought back a small bag of dried cranberries that i didn't use. i had made gifts-in-a-jar and i bought one package of cranberries too many. the old me would have just thrown them out, but the frugal me brought them back and got my $3.41 back.

the only stores open here today were the pharmacy and the grocery stores.

i've been watching a show called Til Debt Do Us Part. its on the LIFE channel. it has helped alot. even DH watches.

1/1 Had to get out of the house (cabin fever) Ended up at Sonic spent 6 something on icecream and drinks, but used my gift card so not really my money.

1/2 Took the kids to Chuck E. Cheese. Told them they couldn't eat there, but bought $10 worth of tokens that were doubled. (wanted to do something special for them before going back to school) Went to Sonic (used gift card again)

Exchanged an item at JCPenny, but also bought 2 pair of jeans and houseshoes for dd. Ended up spending $28.

I have to stay out of the stores. I have a weakness and can't control it.
Answer:

I am happy to admit that I have not spent anything this month- well, today I have to leave and take my dd to preschool and have to stop for a few things from the store. I will have to report back!

I am not doing too too bad. But, we didnt use credit cards at Christmas so we had no extras in December. We just got paid on the 1st and after I did the bills I saw we were in good shape. I did buy $40 tickets to a comedy show last night, and I ordered some maternity stuff from Gap for $30. Today is the 3rd and after I drop DD off at preschool the little one and I are going to Walmart and Old Navy. I am going to be really good though. I hope.

I'll need to go to the grocery store Friday so that day will be hard, I'm planning to leave the house early after breakfast so I won't be tempted to stop for lunch. We just watch the movie supersize me so that is helping with the temptation. But I have a habit of just stopping here or there while I am out.
