Have you ever used a fertility monitor?

Ask:
For those that may not know, my dh and I are trying to conceive. We've been married since June and have been trying to get pregnant since our wedding night!

I have done quite a bit of research on the internet about TTC (trying to conceive). I am willing to try (almost!) anything to get pregnant. I really don't want to do the temperature-taking every morning yet (or the checking the consistency of mucus!), so a fertility monitor sounds like a much less evasive way to check fertility. If I understand it right, you pee on a stick and it tells you how fertile you are.

Thanks to a fellow mommysaver that I am trading with, I will be getting a Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor soon. Has anyone ever used one of these? What did you think of it? Did something else work better for you??
Answer:

Not to sound gross, but checking your mucus is really not that hard (or yucky!!) You know when you have your preiod, then about 11-14 days after the START of your period, you will probably have a more "slimy" discharge. I notice it when I wipe after peeing, it's just clear, slimy and I know to definitely use protection on those days!! It lasts about 3 days or so for me. I don't think this necessarily means you're ovulating, but I hope this helps some.
I don't know how long you can or want to try before looking any further into it, but I was given a prescription for Clomid, had it filled, let it sit around for a few weeks, and got pregnant without ever popping a pill. Interesting...the power of suggestion...!!
Answer:

I think it's amazing how those things happen. I have heard other stories from people who were told they were infertile, adopted a child, then immediately became pregnant.

Thanks for the info about the mucus. You make it sound much easier than what I've read on some of the TTC sites.

To answer your question, dh and I are going to keep trying through June. That'll be one year of trying, then we will head to the doctor. If there is a problem, I want to know so that we can go from there. I think I will be more frustrated if they can't find something wrong.
Answer:

The month we conceived the twins we were using regular OPK's (ovulation predicter kits), the fertility monitor and Clomid. I know a little extreme but I had a miscarriage 8 months before that and couldn't get pg. again which is abnormal for us. I got pg the first month off of birth control pill w/ dd, 4 months after getting off them for the baby we lost. On the 2nd pregnancy I had been on the pill for 9 yrs. I wanted to be pg. again so bad so we used about everything.

The monitor is really easy to use, it takes the guess work out of exactly when the right time to get busy.

Good luck to you!!!
Answer:

What VTMOM said. I have 5 kids and would have tons more if I didnt use protection. Im fertile myrtle. I can tell when Im ovulating, vtmom said it well. I can feel it too. My ovaries become almost "crampy" and my "drive" kicks in. Dont stress over it, just relax and learn to listen to listen to your body and you will get pregnant before you know it. Enjoy being newlyweds:D
