Ask:
I have talked with one woman here who has adopted a baby, and was curious if there are others. My dh and I are very open to the possibility of adoption if we are unable to conceive. We feel it is too early to really get the ball rolling on adoption, until we find out whether we can actually conceive or not. However, it is never too late to get good information, right?
If you or someone you know has adopted, how did you choose the agency? What kinds of things (financial, emotional, whatever!) did you do to prepare for going to the agency? What do adoption agencies look for in potential adoptive parents? I know this may sound strange or rude, and I don't mean it to in ANY way, but approximately how much did the whole thing cost? Is there anything else we should know?
Thanks so much for any input!
Answer:
My husband and I are going to adopt a son through the foster to adopt program. We are almost completely done with all our homestudy and training!
Answer:
I am so glad you posted this. My husband and I were just having a discussion over the weekend. We have three children, but have talked about adopting on and off for years. I too am interested in the same information and helpful hints.
Answer:
My dh and I researched international adoption about 15 yrs ago. Unfortunately the requirements were so expensive that we just had another birth child. It made us sad because there were so many kids that needed a home, but we just could not afford it.
Answer:
Just wanted to bump this to see if any adoptive parents would respond. (I hope so!)
