OK, so one of my new years resolutions is to get a hobby. I like the idea of having a hobby that can be used to make gifts. I am a SAHM and have some time....but I'm watching my budget so I can't take on anything too expensive. My one big problem is that I become easily frustrated. Tried knitting with a kit. Didn't like it. Tried cross stitching. Hated it.
I do want scrapbook software....I think the "normal" scrapbooking would frustrate me or I would give up on it.
Any ideas? Something that starts out easy and as I get better and more confident I can elaborate on it. I REALLY want something crafty to do.....

I know you said you tried knitting but what about crochet. It makes more sense to me and although I don't knit, crochet seems easier. You can start out very simple and then get fancier as you learn more. You can make potholders, scarves, blankets, clothes, etc. I love it as once you get the hang of it, it goes pretty fast and they make great gifts.
If you have a hobby lobby near by check their clearance sections. There is always craft stuff and you could try out something new and if you don't like it, it won't have been too expensive.
I know that some people quilt, paint, beadwork, make candles, make candies, weave, etc. I'm sure you'll get lots of good ideas from the ladies here.

Sometimes starting a hobby with a friend helps. Then, you can learn together. Share ideas and supplies.

For me, it is easier to have someone show me how to do something, as opposed to buying a kit. I learned how to knit over Christmas break by having my mom teach me. I thought it was great to be able to ask someone questions or help me fix my mistakes. I'm not suggesting you knit, though. I know you said you didn't care for it. Maybe see if one of your friends or family members would share their hobby with you.
Also, I agree with the others who mentioned Hobby Lobby. You can spend hours in there just seeing all the different craft items. You'd surely get some good ideas there. Best of luck to you. Let me know what you decide to do!
