We have achieved sippy cup status!

Ask:
I've been working with Aidan, off and on, since he was about 7 months old, to get him to drink from a sippy cup. I've tried various styles, and tricks with no luck. He would look at it like it was poison, throw it down and refuse to drink from it.

Yesterday at Target, I bought a little cheap one for $.99 and tried it out. No luck yesterday, but today with his lunch, I did it again, and he finally figured it out!

I think I'll keep doing it with one meal a day till he gets used to it, then slowly start phasing out the bottle. What do you think?
Answer:

Congrats!!! I know that can be a long road to travel.
Answer:

Keep at it! I've been working with my little guy for a couple of weeks now and we are finally using sippy cups at breakfast and mid-day. I've had to try several different types. I thought he would've loved the ones with handles but he hated them and in fact, probably was able to propel them further due to the handles! I'm dreading switching out the bottle at his bedtime feeding. I guess we'll have to approach it more as a snack.
Answer:

We're still plugging away. He'll drink from it with his lunch and dinner, but at least he's drinking from it. He doesn't really throw them, but will carry it around and just kind of chunk it someplace. I think he's probably gonna put up a fight with the bedtime bottle too, but we'll get there when we get there.
Answer:

Glad to hear he is making progress. Ds is 9 months and he wants nothing to do with it so I think it will be a long process.
Answer:

YEAH MOM! great job! it took me a while to get my son off nursing, and only a little while to get my youngest on one so I have been down both roads. Good luck with the bottles, so dont miss those days!!
Answer:

Well, I figured since we've got another one on the way, I wouldn't want to have TWO on the bottle at the same time.
