Are you content with what you have?

Ask:
Do you feel content with what you already have? I think in the past a lot of my shopping has been fueled by a) loving the bargain hunt and b) not appreciating or using what I already have.

I have posted this before, but I read once that the average American owns more possessions than King Tut (and he was fabulously wealthy for his time).

So- are you happy with what you have?

For me- I have more than enough (too much, even). I can't think of one thing I need or want to add
Answer:

I am content with what I have. My problem is that I don't want to miss bargains on items that I could give as Christmas gifts. I shop year round so that I can buy presents at the best prices. For example, 2 nights ago I hit our Walmart's clearance section....again....and found a cushion foot massager that has vibration and heat. I know several people in my family who have circulation problems or are on their feet all the time. I bought the item that usually sells for $20-30 for $3.66! I couldn't pass it up!! But as far as stuff for my home or family on a daily basis, I'm content....more than content!
Answer:

That is a hard question to answer. Before buying the house I was content. We don't live a lavish life or have anything extravagant, but are very happy with what we do have and make sure of it too! However, since buying the house, we have the opportunity to decorate it the way we have always wanted to. It's kinda like upgrading what we already have. So in one sense yes I am content (financially, emotionally) but in another sense I am excited about upgrading!!!!
Answer:

I would have to say no. We are just getting out of a string of bad luck. Large debt, small apartment, bankruptcy.... So even though we may be on a better track in our lives I still am not content with what we have. I think that the thing that gets me the worst is that we live in such a tiny place for 5 people. That though is changing come May and I am way too excited for that!
Answer:

I am very content. I do fantasize about upgrading, but who doesn't? We have our health and happiness, which is the most important thing in my world.
Answer:

Mine is a yes and a no. We have more than enough stuff. But since moving, there is plenty that needs to be done to the house. Dh is currently working on finishing the basement and putting in heat down there. We also need new exterior doors, but that will have to wait. We need a new dining room floor since this one is coming up and ugly industrial tile.
Answer:

Mostly yes. I think alot of my shopping sprees (when i can afford them) are out of boredom more than anything else. We are in desperate need for new living room furniture but that will have to wait, hopefully i can find something nice in the newspaper ads this summer. I have gone thru the house and taken down extra knick-knacks and pictures to make the house seem more spacious and realized i didn't need all the extra stuff to begin with.Dh is the opposite,he wants, wants, wants and knows we cannot afford it which aggrivates him and leads to one of his moods again!
Answer:

Yes 100% content. I save for future upgrades (like when the computer or the car breaks down) but I'm content through and through. Contentedness is the secret to a happy simple life.

Example : When friends call our home "a nice starter home" I tell them I hope to retire here!
Answer:

I am very content and grateful for what I have. I know that my circumstances could be a lot worse and that I work hard to maintain the simple lifestyle that I do have.

That said - I do have times where I wish for more. I do find myself shopping sometimes just to fulfill an emotional issue so at those times I don't feel content with what I have. That of course has nothing to do with STUFF but deeper emotional mental health issues!
Answer:

I voted yes.

Read my signature, it is not having what you want, it is wanting what you've got.
