Hi,

I have been a lurker for years now. My son had a tracheostomy for almost four years since he was born. He was just decannulated in November. The site that helped me was/still is tracheostomy.com (Aarons's tracheostomy page) all the way. He was born with a heart defect and subglottic stenosis. Because he was fighting to just stay alive he was confined to a hospital crib until he was allowed to come home at 18 months. Therefore he is developmentally delayed a bit (just fine neurologically) and with the help of ST, OT, PT he is coming along just fine. Hopefully he will be just about on target for kindergarten.

Thank you for including this subject. It would have been so much harder without the help of all of the wonderful parents at Aaron's Page regarding insurance issues, DME issues, Medi-cal waiver issues or even the day to day problems that come up for all of the newbies to the trach world that the others just don't understand or care to.
