How many magazine subscriptions do you have?

Ask:
How many magazine subscriptions do you have?

We have 3. One is mine (Canadian Family) and grandparents gave the kids one each (Chirp & Chickadee).

* I posted this in simple living as a way to get us to think about how much we are bringing in. I noticed in other threads that people were often having to de-clutter magazines. Just wondering what a 'normal' about is.
Answer:

I think we have 5. Oh wait, no. We must have 6. I have Cosmo, Redbook, and Jane. I got all 3 at a really good deal - AND before I knew about our financial crisis. Dh has 3 - no wait, I think he might have 4. So, I guess we have seven! Dang!! Let's just say we will NOT renew any of these magazines after the subscriptions run out. (Although dh does actually read the pages in Cosmo that are for the guys!!!)
Answer:

I only get 2, both of which I got for free. I get Child, which I don't like at all- too stuffy. I also get Star which I have gotten really addicted to! I always hold onto my Star until the next iissue comes (it's weekly) and toss it in the recyclable bin and Child goes pretty quick.
Answer:

You don't even want to know how many I get. I do read most of them, however, and pass them on to friends when I'm done. Most I get through Best Deal Magazines when they're on sale. I hardly ever spend more than $3/year on a subscription. A few we got for free through our frequent flier miles.

OK!
Star (freebie)
TV Guide (was a freebie)
Entertainment (was a freebie)
Elle (was a freebie)
Better Homes & Gardens
Midwest Living
Family Fun
Wondertime
Body + Soul
Country Home

That doesn't include the ones dh gets and dd gets Highlights. I have probably forgotten one or two, but you get the picture. It is a cheap thrill/simple pleasure of mine getting them in the mail.
Answer:

Too many!! A friend gave us about 10 subscriptions last year through some deal she found. I also get Good Housekeeping - thanks to here!! I read some of them and freecycle all of them when we are done (unless we have destoyed them for some craft activity!)
Answer:

We get quite a few also, but like Kim (and mostly thanks to Kim ) I pay just over $3.00 for each one and 5.95 for 1 of DH Home Theatre Mags.

Let's see

Chicken Soup for the Soul (A gift from a GOOD friend)
OK (best deal, and i just re-newed it for the same price I got it ($3 something)
Star (which I think runs out this month, and was a freebie)
Shape( only paid $1.95 for a year)
Family Fun
Southern Living (gift)
Glamour
Spin (free)
2 other music ones that were free, but I can't remember the names

Plus DH gets 4, and the kids get 2 (both come in both their names- Nick Jr (that I got for $1 for a year) and Highlights (gift) I give them away or recycle them pretty quick after reading b/c they DO pile up SO fast! But they're my vice...I love magazines
Answer:

I get a lot, I love magazines...I also get them really cheap via clearinghouse type websites or thru DH's work and other promotions.

Answer:

Oh my goodness that is a LOT of magazines!! I get 3 currently - used to get 4 but didn't renew. I have 2-3 years worth of magazines piled up in boxes that I haven't read yet so I'm not renewing any for at least a year. I CANNOT bring myself to throw them out yet but hope to get through and read some of them and throw some out. EEEEKKK!! It hurts just saying that. I'm a true packrat and magazines are my biggest vice.

I just don't have time to read them. When I was married I had some time and would read some but still not all of what I was getting in the mail. As a single working mom, time for magazines is zilch. I have started the last week taking a magazine with me to the gym so that while I'm on the elliptical I can read a magazine. I hope to continue this as a way to keep myself motivated working out and to get through the pile - killing 2 birds with 1 stone!
Answer:

I actually have cut back...L.OL. I just love reading them. I keep all my Martha Stewart Magazines...and Everyday Food. But other than that, I donate the rest when I'm done reading them. I take them with me in my car, so when I'm waiting for the kids to get out of school or out of practice, I take it with me to where I'm waiting and read. I also put a basket in the faculty lounge at school that I fill when I go in to volunteer at school each week. They go like wildfire!
Answer:

I don't have any magazine subscriptions anymore. I just go to the library and check them out now, because i got tired of the paper pile-up in the house. My mom subscribes to Good Housekeeping and then just passes it to me when she is done. I love People magazine and for awhile i liked the convenience of having it delivered to my house each week but it just got too costly for me, i get it from the library now. It's hard because i don't always get to read the most current issues immediately (i guess its a popular magazine at the library also?) but with patience i eventually get caught up on issues.
