Greeting Card Storage

Ask:
I am wondering what you all do with the cards you get that are meaningful. I was going through the drawers (yes, plural) of greeting cards we have gotten (wedding, baby, Xmas, birthday, anniversary, etc) and threw the ones out that weren't sentimental. I sorted through and pulled out our wedding and baby stuff and put those in seperate shoeboxes, but what do I do with the others? Should I just store them in shoeboxes? I don't want to get rid of birthday cards from my mom and his mom, my brother, etc.

Wondering what you all do. I want it to be neat, but I still want to keep the cards.

Thanks!
Answer:

Right now, I have ours in a box in the basement. I have decided to put all the ones in there that the family gets. Each person can sort their own cards and decide if they want to keep them or not.

For the non sentimental ones, I will use those as gift tags or to make my own cards.
Answer:

I use photo boxes that I got at Walmart. I have a few, one for letters from friends, one for letters from dh (when we were dating or when he travels) and one for letters from the kids. If they get full, I need to either file them (I do this with the kids) or purge some old ones so there is room. They are really nice looking decorative boxes so I just keep them on the bookshelf and look at them occasionally when I want a walk down memory lane.
Answer:

I have a box for both my little ones and I would put them in there with other trinkettes. But for the most part cards usually get thrown away.
Answer:

I keep the ones that are really sentimental to me and still go through them once a year or so. I keep them in a photo storage box although I'm going to try to find a better way.

I have letters from dh while he was in Afghanistan in the fire proof box with other important papers.
