31 Barbies!!!!!!!!!!!!!ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Ask:
I've worked on cleaning my dd's (5yrs old) room out today and am almost finished. She had (REPEAT HAD) 31 Barbie Dolls. Dear Lord, what the heck was I thinking? Anyway she now has 5 and a reasonable amount of clothes for them. I cleaned her closet and toys and took 3 bags out of there, trash, goodwill and giving to family kids etc. I used small plastic matching tubs for each grouping of toys (Barbies, Pet Shop, Little Pony, Dress Up, Art, Polly Pocket) labeled and stacked them on her closet shelf where she cannot reach them. Now instead of a entire room of disaster she can have one tub at a time and when she's ready to clean that one up I'll put it up and she can choose another. I did the same in my ds's (3yr old) room today too! They can play and this way they will learn to clean up there own messes. I did leave down a few other toys in each room but nothing with lots of pieces that would=a trashed room. I'm tackling my bedroom next! It really feels great to do this! I also did the kitchen yesterday and am so happy with cabinets that aren't over stuffed that I didn't even hate doing the dishes today and see empty countertops is a joy!

Answer:

You did a great job today! And at your house, as at mine, you probably didn't consciously buy your dd 31 barbies. Somehow they accumulate- gifts, hand-me-downs, etc. That's how they take over, by sneaking in,
Answer:

Wow! Now that I think about it I could probably come up with that many!!! With 3 girsl we are bound to have enough to give away! Maybe that will be my special project tomorrow! Thanks for the suggestion!
Answer:

EEEEEK !! Thomas the Tank Engine and all of his little friends are invading my house at the speed of light and there is still a birthday in February! At least they don't wear clothes and tiny shoes though!
Answer:

I have to get into my oldest bedroom. She has so many Bratz dolls- I don't even want to know how many she has- we get rid of 10 each time we reorganize her room! I have my youngest Barbies down to 7- they all were Christmas presents so I don't have the heart for giving them away yet!

Good job though! I hope your little one is willing to keep her toys organized for awhile! I know my 3 y.o. does it for a little bit- but then it's out the door- but there is still hope for her! If I can train her- at least that only leaves 2 others I have to chase after!
Answer:

That's a great job! and a good system, I really like that idea and am going to try to implement it with my neice. She has so many toys at everyone's house and something has to be done. The only reason my house doesn't get trashed is that I don't allow it and she knows it.
Answer:

That's the system we have in our playroom and it works great - you'll be happy with it.

It has been mentioned before that stuffed animals sneak around and reproduce when you aren't looking - maybe that applies to Barbies as well!!! My 3 year old is soooo in love with the weird pink/purple glitter fairy and mermaid Barbies right now - I will be happy when those are put aside!!!
Answer:

Great job! I love the storage system idea, I'm going to try that
