Ask:
Ok, so I am very fortunate that my wonderful dd is a good sleeper. However, she is starting to wake up earlier and earlier. she is still taking three naps, and I am thinking that maybe we need to cut it to two naps.
she is bottle fed, so she has been sleeping through the night since about 6 weeks old. the best she got was going to bed at 8pm and getting up around 6 am. Great -- no complaints. Then daylight savings happened, and she started getting up around 5. ok I can deal with this too...because she was going to bed at 7. (And no matter how late I kept her up she still got up around 5 sometimes 5:30). Well, now she is starting to get up around 4:30. Ok, now we are getting too early for me. And I still don't want to "complain" because she does go down at 7 still. And sleeps through. I am just thinking that maybe we need to cut out one of the naps.
she usually naps between 7 and 9, and then again between 10-12, and then between 3-5. I am thinking to cut out the 10-12 nap. That would be the easiest, since the rest of the household is either at school or work, and I can really concentrate on her. Or am I just crazy thinking I should try to cut out a nap??
HELP
Answer:
Yes I would think the middle one. My dd's schedule for awhile has been wakes up at 7ish
naps from 9-10:30 then 1-3 and down for the night at 8
Answer:
You might try keeping her up just 15 -thirty minutes later in the morning...and then putting her down for the afternoon one about half an hour earlier. That way, she is not a complete bear while you transition the middle one out!! I have six kids, and I know with all of mine, it was about this age where we went to a solid 1 - 1 1/2 hour morning nap and then a solid 2-3 hour afternoon nap. It made life so much easier to be able to plan around those. I also keep a 13 month old, and he is just now moving to getting rid of the morning naps. He goes down right at noon, most days, for three hours!! Once in a while, he'll still take a 20 minute snooze in the mornings, but for the most part, I can put him off for that good quality afternoon one now!

OK so she sleeps from 3-5 and then you put her to bed at 7?
I would cut out he middle one and push the other two naps a little closer together.
Answer:
Well, she doesn't sleep the whole two hours....she just naps sometime between those hours mentioned. Sorry. She usually doesn't sleep more then 1 -1 1/2 hours at a time.
Looks like the consensus so far is the middle one....which is what I am going to try!!
Wish me luck.
Answer:
Thank you all for your advice. She is transitioning very well. I am keeping her up a little later in the morning so she goes down around 8/8:30 and she sleeps until about 10. And then she is taking an afternoon nap somewhere between 1 and 2, and she sleeps about 2 hours. So, far she is doing fine. Still going to bed around 7. I just can't keep her up at night. Of course there is so much going on with the older two, so maybe that is me..lol..by 7 I have had enough..lol. She back to getting up between 5/5:30am.
Thanks again!!
Answer:
I agree about cutting out the morning nap. put her down just after lunch. She will have a hard time adjusting to that especially if she's getting up earlier and earlier, so for the first week of this transition have LOTS planned ~ but making sure she isn't in a position where she can crash in her car seat in the car!!!!
It took about a week for my kids to make the transition. Good luck!
