Ask:
If so, where is it located?
I helped my girlfriend with some decluttering in her bedroom today and she said, "Wow, we might have room to put the hamper back in here now." I strongly suggested that she NOT do that. As it is, she is pretty on top of her laundry. A dirty clothes hamper would just clutter up her bedroom and emptying it would become an extra chore for her to do during the week. Her system of walking her dirty clothes a few feet to her laundry room seems to be working pretty well for her.
We don't have a hamper. We have a laundry chute. Even with that, clothes end up on the floor in a corner until I can send them down the chute but it never gets too bad. I have found that I'm also more likely to be on top of the laundry when I can see it piling up. I almost wish we didn't have the laundry chute (almost.)
Answer:
I don't have one. I just don't like them. You end up havingso much to do.
Answer:
I have a pop-up style hamper in each bedroom (2 in the master bedroom for white & dark) and in the bathroom closet. It is easy for me to grab them and dump them in the washer. I also have a laundry sorter in the laundry room. I do a load or two a day so it doesn't pile up.
I should add that my 'laundry room' is the unfinished half of the basement that also serves as storage and houses the water heater/softner all that stuff. I guess it isn't a laundry room but a place where I have the washer & dryer : )
Answer:
Well I don't have a laundry room, as such. Just a large closet with doors. I can't imagine NOT having a laundry basket in each room. Where would you put the dirty clothes??? I couldn't stand to have a pile of dirty clothes on the floor :P

Me too! I don't have a laundry room, so clothes would just be everywhere if we didn't use our laundry hamper!
Answer:
We don't have a laundry hamper per se, but just talked about getting a "real" one. Currently we use a laundry basket to catch out clothes in, and then I just grab our basket and carry it down to the laundry room. DH, the other day, mentioned that he would like to have an acutal hamper so that we could close it. The way our new room is set up, the basket is right by the door and not very neat as you look in.
Answer:
I do have a laundry room, well sorta, it's actually the mud room with the back door to the yard.
But I have 3 hampers for dirty clothes in my upstairs bathroom, we shower, and dump all dirty clothes in it. It's usually filled up every two days, so I'm practically doing laundry every other day .
But so far, I don't feel the need to have hampers or baskets in the kids' rooms, they're still young.
Answer:
Our washer and dryer is right inside the backdoor hallway. Above them, there is a deep shelf. At first, I couldn't figure out what to do with that shelf. But then, we realized that two laundry baskets will easily fit on it. When we have dirty clothes, we put the light clothes in one and the dark clothes in another. It's already sorted, and when a basket is full, it's time to do laundry.
Of course, we don't have children yet, so I don't know how that would work with kids. The baskets are awfully high.
Answer:
I got rid of the laundry baskets in the bathrooms about six months ago. I was tired of the kids putting in a wet something or other and ruining clothes! Now, they have to bring their dirty clothes to the laundry room itself...and in there, I have three rubbermaid tubs (the big ones!). One is for whites, one is for darks, and one is for towels. Understand that with EIGHT of us in this house, I fill at least one tub a day. If I skip a single day of doing laundry, I may as well skip ten days. Laundry is an ongoing struggle for me. Right now, I am completely caught up, and have been for a week. This is NOT normal, though!!!
Answer:
We used to have a laundry chute and used that, but we don't in this house. We have a hamper downstairs in the hallway between the two bedrooms and a basket in each of the bedrooms upstairs. I empty them at least every other day. There are 8 or 9 of us living here.
