Ask:
she/he started holding the bottle on their own??
My little one would always hit the bottle with her hands, so we started holding her arms to her side to make it easier to feed her. Now she is almost 8 months and still not holding it on her own. Is this our fault??
Is this an important milestone?? Or no big deal. Should I start putting the bottle in front of her until she just gets it??
This is so hard...I just don't remember the older two having this problem, I just remember that they did stuff, but I don't remember when.
Answer:
I remember when I was shopping for daycares for my first, being consistently told that they are taught to hold their bottles by the age of 3 months out of necessity. A few places even propped them, a HUGE no-no. But three months just seemed sooo young! It seemed that my son was about five months, but it was six years ago. Little diva started holding her cup (never could get her to take a bottle) at about 7 or 8 months. Just give it time. All too soon, baby will be in the "I wanna do it" stage. Then get ready for the messes! Oh, and the thrown bottles and cups. Besides, if mommy cuddles while feeding, I'd hold off, too! It's not your fault. You're just being a great parent. They grow up fast enough as it is.

My daughter is 9 months and has been EBF so she had VERY FEW bottles. Well I am starting to wean her now, and give her a bottle during the day. She wouldn't hold it! I was like....what the...but i just kept giving it to her and putting her hands on it, and within a few days, she would hold it by herself. She does not get the whole tilt head back deal, to empty the bottle yet, though!
Answer:
Mine was 6 mos. My parents were bbsitting and my mom told me. I had no idea b/c I nurse and never thought to teach her! I did buy her a bottle with the handles on the sides and that works great too! I don't think it's a "milestone" to worry about at all!
Answer:
She started holding it at 6 months and is 8 months now
Answer:
I hope it isn't a big deal because my first never held her bottle and my second hasn't held it yet (14 months). My 14 month old WILL NOT drink out of a cup so she will have the bottle for awhile. I've tried several different types of cups. My oldest drank from a cup starting at 4 months. Oh well
