Use an apron

Ask:
This is one of my favorite frugal hints. Use an apron when cooking and cleaning.

I remember reading in a cookbook where the author wrote that she never used an apron until one day she was visiting at a friend's house and was offered one to use. She said she noticed that once she used an apron there were far fewer spots on her clothing - saving her money on pre-treating, laundry and ruined clothing. Of course the apron should have some decent coverage above the waist for this to work, but it really does!
Answer:

Yes, I love aprons for this exact reason. I was without one for a while a ruined so many clothes. Now if I could convince dh to either change out of his work clothes or wear one while he cooks, I'd be set.....
Answer:

I just asked for (and got) an apron from the kids for christmas. I was so tired of looking down at various spots all over my shirts. I use it ALL the time
Answer:

I also want to get one- I would make one if I had a sewing machine (to save the money), but I couldn't sew a straight line if my life depended on it!
Answer:

Good timing on this post. I just said to DH that I was going to make an apron because I tend to be a bit of a slob! My "Mommy Uniform" is a bunch of horrible, stained white
t-shirts that are driving my crazy, but I won't buy new ones until the spring.
Answer:

I firmly believe that white T-shirts should come in a disposable 12-pack, sort of like tissues or diaper wipes. When one T-shirt gets dirty, I can just pop another one out of the box.

I do the same thing as you. I buy half a dozen white T-shirts in the spring and wear them as long as I can, then they get torn up and put in the rag bag. I even bought those Hanes Aways Clean T-shirts and those didn't work plus they didn't fit well.

Guess it is time to get me an apron. Are they only for cooking?? With kids 4 and under I am always stained and it doesn't just happen at cooking time.
Answer:

I have a denim bib apron and I wear it all the time. I wear it when I clean and cook. I really think it looks pretty good. I had my name monogramed on it and I also have one that has a Christmas Elf on it that I wear during the holidays. I love the fact I can get ready when I get up on my days off and when I have to run out I am still clean!!! Just take that apron off and run out the door to where ever I need to be.
Answer:

funny thing , two days ago i stained my pants wiht bleach and almost cried becuase it was one of only two decent pairs I own. So I put an apron on my walmart list. Im still mad about the pants!
Answer:

I found a nice one at a thrift store, it was still new with tags, got it for $1.

I too got tired of the splats on my shirts when cooking, especially deep frying or cooking bacon.

Got a nice black one with good coverage! Love it!
