Ask:
Has anyone had any problem with Enfamil AR. My son has GERD and i have the hardest time trying to get this formula to quit clogging the nipple. Any suggestions?
Answer:
I'm sorry, I have no idea. I think that if you don't mind, I will move this post to a section of the board that might get more traffic in order to help you.
Answer:
Your nipple may be too small, the formula may be too old or may be defective (probably rule this out if this is repeatedly happening), but my wonder is what is happening inside baby. I remember Enfamil clogging our bottle nipples when ds was little. I didn't have this problem with Good Starts, which I ended up eventually using, along w/nursing. Helped w/GERD, too.
Answer:
If you haven't tried Good Start, I would recommend it, too. It is supposed to be the most easily digested formula on the market!
As for the nipple...how old is the baby? You might move up to a bigger size nipple. I know they come in stages according to ages...and the older the baby, the bigger the hole in the nipple.
Answer:
try unscrewing the ring a tad (#1 was a fast eater) or put a fork in the nipple to open the whole a little bit. my nephews had to have rice with their bottles and thats what the dr did.
the gerber nipples adjust to the flow and you dont need to go through the stages on those.

Our twins were also on Enfamil AR due to GERD. I noticed whenever we would shake up the powdered kind in their bottles it would get really foamy and thick and give them gas. We switched to the ready to feed kind that you just pour into their bottles and didn't have any problems with it at all. Maybe you could try that?
Answer:
Yes, I had a horrible time with the AR formula. I only tried a small can of it because my son was spitting up a lot at the time. The Enfamil AR was recommended by my Pediatrician. I gave up on the AR formual and began putting cereal into all of my son's bottles. He did not start the spitting up problem untill he was about 6months old.
The cereal in the bottle seemed to do the trick for us!!! I even asked our Pediatrician about it and he said "if it works, go ahead!".
Answer:
We use AR and I just slowly shake it to get it all to get it all mixed in the water so the powder won't get up in the nipple. Then we just shake it really well to make sure it is all mixed up. We use avent bottles with the size 3 nipple.
Answer:
I used the AR Enfamil b/c my daughter had projectile throw up. I agree with someone above saying to put a fork through all the nipples. After you do that a few times you shouldn't have any problems. That formula worked so well for us!
Answer:
I would try the Good Start formula...it is great! My daughter has to use Enfamil Nutramigen. But my other kids took the Good Start with no problems and we had to try a few beforeformulas before we tried it and it was best by far.
