I have the same issue. I called the dr the other day and went through his entire diet witht he nurse. She said that I was feeding him right according to her guides.:
28-32 oz formula
3 4oz jars of food (1 fruit breakfast, 1/2 fruit & 1/2 Veg for lunch & 1 meat/veg mix for dinner)
add about 1 tsp ceral to each babyfood feeding
He doesn't have teeth so no finger foods.
I do give him a sippy cup with mostly water with juice to taste after lunch.

WOW! According to you all, I seriously underfed my kids! LOL I used the book "Super Baby Food" by Ruth Yaron as my guide to feeding my kids. I STARTED feeding them at 6 months old, since I just didn't feel they were ready before that. Also I'd read about all of the nutritional benefits of strictly nursing for the first 6 months. (My twins were preemies, so even though they didn't nurse, I didn't think they were developmentally ready before 6 months old.) I started out with 1 meal, and gradually increased to 2 meals per day by 7 months old. My understanding is that the baby's diet should be primarily breastmilk or formula, and the food is more to supplement and get them used to the new tastes and textures. Aside from my first (who was built very petite, like her mom) and Lily (with her extenuating circumstances) Leah's weight and development were right on track. My personal opinion on how much food is okay, is to check with your pediatrician. If he/she thinks everything is okay, then stick with it. But, it's probably not going to hurt to decrease to 2 jars of food per day. Of course, the weight might just be a hereditary thing too. See if you can find out how you and your dh grew as babies. That's the most likely indicator of how your baby will grow. HTH!
