Sunday Morning VENT!!!

Ask:
Ok I love all coupons but I have had it with coupons for $.25 off a $5 product!!! It's way cheaper for me to buy an alternative brand without a coupon (and usually more product)!

I'd like to ask this company how many of these coupons actually get redeemed! Is it even worth the paper to print them on?!?!?!

Ok I'm done ! It just urks me!!!
Answer:

I think it was 20/20 or one of those, they did a story about coupons and such. They said coupons are not intended to save money they are just a marketing tool. The actual intention is to get you to buy their product instead of the "other"brand. People like to buy name brand and if they think they can get it cheaper than regular price they will buy it even if the other brand is cheaper. i ony use coupons in conjunction with a real sale. And by real sale I mean a bargan not an inflated price that is suposedly marked down.

Funny I was thinking the same thing this morning as I went through the coupons. There were a lot of crummy coupons, where frankly I could've save a lot more just buying the store brand. I was very disappointed with what was in the paper today.
Answer:

Forget the paper. I've been fed up also with their little .50 cent off a product...but only if you buy four!!! You are right about the store brands, they are always cheaper. A lot of times what I will do is wait for the big pack fo Scott paper towels and toliet paper to go on sale, then use the coupon along with it, but if I don't have a coupon, I just buy the store brand.

A really good way to get great coupons is online. Just type in the name brand of something such as Scott tissue, and usually under "special promotions" you can print your own coupons! I have heard of people saying that some stores will not take the printed coupons due to people now getting the idea of counterfitting coupons! Well the two stores I regularly shop at took them with no problem. The Scott tissue coupons I print out are for a dollar off! The only problems with these sites are you usually have to register, then of course, they sell your name to marketing companies. So if you are planning on doing this, set up an email account just for coupons! I have so much spam email from this it's crazy! Also I never give my real phone number, and try not to give my actual address unless they are the type who mail their coupons. I had a company mail me a whole coupon book off of their products! It was something like P&G who have a lot of different products.

I even heard of people who send emails (or call) some of their favorite brands (I did this with Shout), and tell them how much they love their product. I did this without asking for anything in return, and they sent me a 4.00 coupon for Shout! I could not believe it! I went and bought the biggest bottle I could find!

One more thing, I don't know if any of you seen this woman on tv, but she is a stay at home mom, and she was such a great grocery shopper, and always knew when to hit the stores with coupons and sales that her family suggested she create her own website. Well she did, and it was on 20/20 or something like that a while back. The thing is, I cannot remember the name of the site! Basically, you pay so much a month for her website to tell you when and where to use certain coupons to get the best deal. They even have a forum, and people in there tell about how they save hundreds when they grocery shop now. I know some people would say they were probably paid, but there are to many people on there to pay to say that! Also the tv show gave it great reviews also. I don't know how you can find it, but try typing in the search something about coupons. If you find it, it tells of how she got started with her own business.

I think there is a site called the Grocery Game that is similar to this. Also Couponmom? I think Or coupon clippers?? ugh, i have them bookmarked somewhere, but don't visit there very often.

I actually only use a few certain coupons religiously. Some that I swear by and get SO excited when I get them. The others I always end up giving away because its NOT worth it for me to have to buy 3 of the most expensive thing to save a whole $1.
Answer:

It's the Grocery Game. There is a month trial for $1 and then after that its like $10 every two months or something (dn't quote me on it - it's been a while) for one store and you have to pay extra for every additional store you get a list for. but i'm in a little podunk area and there was only one of my local grocery stores on the list. I do shop that store, but I know the prices in it very well and watch the sale ads, order corresponding coupons from , and get my savings that way. It takes me a half hour, tops, per week, and it's actually relaxing to me. If you're in an area where there are a lot of well-known big supermarkets, then it may be worth it to you, but it's not for me. Try the trial if you're curious.
