Diapering question can someone help?

Ask:
I am due for baby #2 in March. Baby #1, my daughter, just turned two and I plan on potty training her after the baby is born. I am concered about how much it is going to cost having two in diapers at the same time. Can anyone offer suggestions to help? Please no suggestions about cloth diapers. We are not going that route. Any other tips will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Answer:

Why are you waiting to potty train her until then?
Answer:

I had 3 in diapers at once. It is not too bad. Just a by the way. Right after a new baby, your dd may not be real receptive to potty training. One change at a time....

I am new on this forum but not to moms savers. I have 3 grand children,Amber3yrs. old Sarah 10 months old, and Braden 7months old. My daughter with Braden and Amber there diapers and wipes at Sams club. She also watches at the discount stores( Walmarts Target Kmarts )for reduced diapers the package might have a small rip in it but there is no diapers missing. And she uses coupons that we save for her. I hope this helps you.
Answer:

I would buy your dipes at Sams, and try to get dd trained as soon as you can.

I am a cloth diapering Momma, so that's all the advice I have

It wasn't too bad. I waited to potty train dd untill she was really used to the baby. Maybe by mid summer would be a good time to start. Summer is great for potty training and with dd you can just pop a dress on her and she is good to go!

As far as budget, I was always on the lookout for marked down pullups and coupons. I really didn't use as many of them as I thouhgt I would. I switched her over to the gerber training pants (Walmart & Kmart are the only places I could find them) and she slept with pullups for a little while longer.

Also, I started buying baby#2 diapers before he came and that seemed to help with the budget to not have to buy 2 packs at the same time. What seemed to hurt our budget was going back to buying formula again!! That was really a strain for awhile, but we got through it.

We are now back to 1 in diapers and no formula! I have been buying diapers for over 3 years now & look forward to the day I buy the last pack! I shop wisely and always look on clearance shelves!

Oh, and if anyone asks what they can get you for a gift, say diapers!! (for both kids)

I have two babies in diapers. One is 21 months and the other is 3 months. We buy our diapers from Sam's. We get the cheap brand (Member's Mark I think?) and they are great. My kids have really sensitive skin, so they get diaper rash really easy, so as a result, I let them run around without a diaper on for a little after their bath. It's more easy while they are little and you can lay them on the floor. With the 3 month old I'll lay her on the floor on a towel or some baby blankets. Yes, you have to end up doing laundry, but on the days when we are running low on diapers it helps to stretch out that time between diapers.

A friend of mine was in similar situation and so we threw a diaper themed shower for her. I know that some people don't think it proper to have a shower for all babies but in my circle we do. Honestly I think we do it just because we like to have an excuse to get together....any who....the shower had an invite with a diaper on the front. Since most invitations have a note about where the mom has registered we included a diaper wish. The poem said something to the fact that diapers, ointments, or wipes were the needed items. We had games that revolved around diapering. The funny part is she claimed that she only had to buy five packs of diapers, ten boxes of wipes, and no ointment that first year. People had fun making diaper cakes and other diaper themed gifts. Have fun.

I also save lots on diapers by watching for deals at CVS and when no deal is happening I will buy big from Sams. I do break down the cost per diaper so I know if I am getting a good deal or not. Keep an eye on Mommy savers because I have caught several good deals posted by other mommies.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Her pediatrician recommended waiting until June or July and I see someone else here had mentioned that. That is what I plan to do. Also to whoever asked why am I waiting 2 reasons.
1. I am almost eight months pregnant and exhausted. I dont have the energy to train right
now.
2. I dont want to chance my daughter regressing.

I dont plan to start training right away. I'll give it a month or two. (i'm due in March plan to start training dd in june/july) just wanted some ideas to help me get through at least those first few months without losing my sanity. I hope poeple will ask me what I need. Diapers Diapers Diapers!

I was thinking the same thing. I would wait. She will probably have enough to deal with without potty training. I did that with my oldest.

We had two in diapers at one time for almost a year. It isn't too bad.

I am glad now that my dd just finished!! NO MORE DIAPERS!
