Don't buy those prepackaged snacks for your kids!

Ask:
Instead, buy snacks in bulk and put a snack sized amount into baggies. Keep a basket with all the baggies in it, so that way it is as easy to grab as those prepackaged ones used to be!! If your kids want that "fancy packaging" that prepackaged snacks bring, consider using stickers and/or a permenant marker to decorate your baggies. EVERYDAY, I get up and write Riley's name on a snack baggie and then draw him a funny cartoon character to go with this week's theme at school. Since Monday, we have had an astronaut, a spaceship, and a smiling moon/stars! Get creative! Also, I have to tell you, this has been a wonderful way to get a little "close" time in with Riley. He loves getting to school and discovering what I have drawn for him that day...and his friends do, too!!!
Answer:

Great idea. We do this too but instead of baggies, I got little rubbermaid containers which I labeled with Mabel's Labels (which stay on forever - I love labels) which come with your child's name and a picture or just your last name in lots of different colors. This savings tip alone has saved us a ton of money. I always have snacks with me and little rubbermaid drinking boxes with something to drink. It's special to them because they have their own little snack bag for the car and the labels make them feel like it's their own. And no waste too!
