What can I do to prepare my son for Pre-K?

Ask:
Tyler will be starting Pre-K in August. In Georgia it runs along with the regular school year for public school. Registration isnt even until March 1st but I am very curious what I can do now to help him get ready for that. He already goes to a mommies morning out program once a week for four hours so he is getting used to playing in larger groups, listening, following directions, participating in group activities and whatnot. We just finished the boys playroom and its set up like a little class room now. We have letter mats, easles, chalk boards, tables & chairs and puzzels, games, books, movies, music, ect. So we have lots of 'stuff' to do but I just cant seem to get him intrested. What can I do to help teach him letters and numbers past 10? I have been working on his writing and he does really well for about 15 mintues then hes ready to move on to another activity. So any suggestions would be greatly apprecited. I have to get him more school ready and I am just lost....it doesnt help that I also have a one year old who only takes two one hour naps a day. I just dont seem to have alot of time to devote to Tyler and to 'school work'. Thank you all so much!

I think as long as he is used to being separated from you he should be fine!! Preschool is designed to get kids ready for kindergarten, I personally don't think there is alot to getting kids ready for preschool.

I also have a 4yr old ds who is starting pre~k in the fall and I have a 1 year old. My son even takes a nap when she does in the afternoon so there is really no time just for us. When I attended the open house. I asked what he needed to know to help him, he has been home with me since day one. They said it really is an introduction to school they do have a curriculumn but the kids all fall into place. We have been just taking advantage of the day today. We count his potato chips as we put them on the plate, I made up a little ryhme so now he can spell his name, and etc. He does get to watch Sesame Street in the morning and he has really learned alot from that.

My daughter goes to Montessori preschool. They are very pleased if the children know the basics, ABCs, Numbers 1-10, primary colors & shapes. Brainy Baby & Baby Einstein books are great tools. There are also plenty of books at the dollar store that will work just fine. I bought counting bears at Walmart that worked the best. There are 10 of each color bear. They can learn the colors and count/sort them into the cups.
