Diaper question for those w/ newborns

Ask:
I got a great deal at the grocery store ($4.50 per pack and I had coupons) when I was first pregnant, and have 5 packages of newborn Pampers. I won't buy more, I'll start stashing away bigger sizes with my coupons, but how long did your baby wear size 1?

I do not remember with my girls, I know newborn lasted one or 2 packages, but do not remember size 1! And I know we used sizes 3 and 4 for quite awhile!
Answer:

I think both of mine were in Size 1 until 2 months or so at least. It is all a little blurry.....
Answer:

Both of mine were in size one for about a month, but then they were both on the bigger side. I think size 2 lasted for a month or so as well.
Answer:

i think it depends on the size of baby my oldest wore size 1 up until he was 6 months but he was a small baby. my secound has worn size 3 now for over a year and he is 2(unfortunately no intrest in the big boy potty) i think every kid is different. thats a tough one. maybe get several pkgs of 1 then start stocking up on 2's.
Answer:

DJ is 6 weeks and still in size 1 and I can see him being in them for at least another month. (He was 7 lbs 12 oz at birth) We've gone through about 3-4 packs already.
Answer:

...and 5 packages of newborn sure sounds like a lot. Maybe you can take them and exchange them (for their full price) cause if you have an average sized baby... I dont think youll use 5 packs. Especially if you get some from the hospital. We went through like 1 pack of newborn.
Answer:

OOPS! Ember, I meant I have size 1s. I only grabbed one newborn, I have pregnant mommy brain!

Sorry!

But it sounds like I should have plenty of size 1, so next time I shop with my coupons I'll pick up some 2s. We did this before, got a variety of sizes when we could when I was pregnant, then used the correct size up and bought more in that size if needed.
Answer:

The only newborn diapers we used were the ones we brought home from the hospital. I think Ian & Quentin were both in size 1 for about a month, but then they were both 9 1/2 lbs at birth!
