Ask:
Dh and I have a home equity line (17K) that we have to get down. I have found myself in the very bad habit of dropping off ds to school, and then going shopping. I had 'bargained' with myself that I was only going to the $ store, half price books, etc. but all those expenses have definitely added up. We'd get to the point we needed $ just for the monthly bills, so we'd cut a check from the equity line. We also made large purchases too that I regret. They were impulse.
Anyway, last month our cc bill was $2500 - this was actual spending, no interest as we pay it off every month no matter what. That's how sometimes we have to put $ on our equity line, because our cc bill is so much we have to put monthly expenses on it. Well this month I've been good about trying not to use it - and to date with the month being half over we only have $500 on it!! Two and a half weeks to go! We put everything on it, so it seems like a lot, but we put all food, etc. on it because we get points. So far we've 'saved' $2 Thousand dollars as compared to last month. Granted it was Christmas but still. This is such an incentive to me. We were planning on paying down the equity line with dh's bonus but it turned out to be a small one this year. So that went out the window. Anyway, just wanted to share! I'm walking the walk just not talking the talk!

Good for you!
Answer:
Way to go!
I also am guilty of spending here and there and not realizing it. It is convenient that they have so many other items at the grocery store but it doesn't help when they have toys, stickers and coloring books in the baby isle.
Answer:
That is great for you!! Keep it up. I am glad to hear I'm not the only one who sometimes spends a little too much.
Answer:

Answer:
I don't use points cards (or cards at all) because I spend more money when it's not coming out of my account every day. I keep track of everything that I spend on my online banking. It might help you spend less. Just a thought
