Surup in a pinch

I ran out of surup this morning, but wanted to make french toast. Soooo, I made a simple surup out of equal parts of brown sugar and water and a splash of vanilla. At the very end I added a pat or two of butter. It was delicious!!!!!

This is the recipe we've used for years. I also half it when I don't want to make a full batch.

1 cup water
1 cup white corn syrup
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar

Bring to a boil, turn heat down and simmer for a few minutes and it's done.
