Using up my stockpile!

Ask:
I was just going through Oriental Trading Company catalog to find some things for St. Patrick's day and Easter treat bags for ds's class. Then I thought I'd better look in my 'stockpile' and see what I have already. I have enough Easter stuff for the entire class! The St. Patrick's day stuff is harder. I don't want to buy junk and there doesn't seem to be much 'useful' St. Patrick's day stuff for treat bags. Anyway, I was going to order about $20 of stuff from Oriental T. and the shipping is almost $7! For treat bags! I said, 'enough is enough' and am just going to use what I have. St. Patrick's day stuff I'll make craft kits and the bag will be smaller. But it something I really love to do so I don't want to cut it out entirely. I am just proud of myself for 'using it up' and not buying more for the 'ol stockpile! THAT is entirely how our cc bill gets so huge, it's not the big stuff, but we nickle and dime ourselves to Death!!

Way to go! I know that sometimes I forget to check my stockpile and then end up spending money when I didn't need to. Good for you. I'm sure the St. Patricks bags will still be great.
Answer:

I know what you mean. This weekend I bought 4 craft kits of "beach-y" picture frames for a total of 24 frames - for what? For some party yet to be determined in the future. Yes, they were on sale - yes, they were a good deal - yes, I know I could use them later - but why? I have NO immediately plans for them, so why am I going to spend time, energy and space to store something I might not use for years? So - I RETURNED them! Soooooo proud of myself! And proud of you too! Way to go!

Hey, Stormy, wtg on the Easter bags! Here are some ideas for the St. Patty's day ones: You could make Irish potato candy( your kids can help make them), and you could bake sugar cookies or spritz in a shamrock shape, maybe even colored green. You could print out a few coloring pages from the computer in St. Patty designs & buy a bag of those little packs of crayons they sell for party favors. That's all I could think of that's relatively inexpensive. Maybe somebody else has some ideas.

Good work on using up the stock pile. It is soooo tempting to pick up a good deal here,,,,and then a good deal there,,,,,but if they never get used, how good a deal is it!
Answer:

Good for you!! And thanks for reminding me- i bought a ton of Easter things last year on clearance for the plethora of kids that come over for an egg hunt. i must remember to dig those things out and I shouldn't have to buy anything else but candy!
