Ask:
I know this sounds kind of pathetic- I never really used one before. I started to babysit my friends granddaughter today (2 months old) and she gave me a pack and play to use for her to sleep in. The problem- I can only get one of the rails to "snap" in place. Is there any tips as for getting it to lock into place? Right now I have her sleeping in her car seat (I know that is horrible- but I have her kind of postioned on her side (she is beside me right now)- i am afraid to have her lay on the couch on her side- for fear of my 3 year old jumping on her. HELP!!! I feel sad that I am a mother of 2 and never used one of these things before! Thank you for your advice!
Answer:
Call the mom and ask her - some of these things are very tricky and hard to work. She should have showed you how to do it before leaving. The carseat won't hurt for today - heck - think of it as one long car trip, and being upright can be helpful if the baby has reflux, so don't feel bad unless baby is crunched, in which case, the car seat is the problem. If the floor is exceptionally clean, baby can lay on the floor, too, on blankets, of course.
You could also google the mfr. and get their # and ask them how to set it up. Good luck! A 2 mo. old doesn't move much, so as long as she's not rolling over yet, which I'm sure she's not, she would even be OK on your bed on her back - just keep the pillows away from her. Sounds like she's in good hands.
Answer:
Is it a Graco brand? If remember correctly you have to lock ALL the side rails first BEFORE you lock the bottom of it down.....check out the FAQ's on the Graco website..
Question: How do I set up my Pack ’N Play portable playard? All of the rails are not locking.
Answer: The key to setting up the Pack 'N Play playard is in keeping the center of the floor in its raised position until each of the side rails is locked. The side rails will not latch properly if the center of the floor is not kept in its raised position. The side rails are engaged by pulling up on them and "snapping" their latches into the rigid position. After all four side rails are latched, the center of the floor should be pushed down. Once the mattress is placed inside the upright unit, the unit is ready for use.

Answer:
I ALWAYS have this problem with my pack-n play.
I think...pull the center back up so that it is folded back up again. Then snap the sides into place, and push the center down last.
I hope that helps.
I would call the Mom if you can't get it. At least let her know you are having a problem. Maybe it is broken? Then, she won't be shocked to hear that her child slept in the car-seat. Always better to stay open with the Mom. I can imagine she has probably had a hard time with the pack-n play as well if it is that difficult. I've had mine for 2 years and still have troubles!!!!
Answer:
Mine is a Baby Trend and my DH had the same problem. On ours, all the bottom feet have to be together and then straighten out the top bars. (Kind of like an upside down trigangle). Once they are locked, you can work on the bottom.
She should have set it up the first time.
