Ask:
I am thinking about taking my daughter to see Shrek 3 in the theatre. It comes out mid May. She will be almost 4. She sits through movies quietly at home and I think she would there too. Plus, I am going to take her in the afternoon.
Do you think 4 is too young to go to a movie?
Answer:
I took my ds to the theatre in the summer when it is free. He was 2 1/2 the first time I took him and he made it half way before getting fidgety. Then I took him last summer at 3 1/2 and he did great. My dh took him to see Cars too and said he did good. Those type of movies are meant for this age group so it isn't the quietest movie experience but they do have booster available so they can see too. I say definately go for it. there will be lots of kids the same age there. It is so fun!!
Answer:
i dont think she is too young....i took my 3 year old son to see "Cars" when it came out....he sat pretty good for the majority...the movie was, i think, almost 2 hours...which is a little long for the youngins but he did fine in my eyes!!! i say go for it.
Answer:
I probably took my kids by that age. She'd probably be fine, especially since everyone else in there will probably have kids too. If she started crying you should obviously take her out so she doesn't bother others, but don't know what in Shrek could make her cry. She'll probably be fine.
(I just noticed I used "probably" 4 times...need to work on my vocalbulary)
Answer:
No, that's not too old at all. My boys have been going since they were about a year old, and they've been doing fine. The way I look at it is, what's the worse that's gonna happen? They throw a fit and you gonna have to walk out? No biggie for me. Atleast it's one step closer to finding out how they do and for them to get used to going to the movies. My boys love going to the movies so that they can have their popcorn and nachos.
Answer:
You might check with your local theater to see if they offer mom and tot shows. They're usually in the afternoon and for mom's and little ones. It might be good to get her introduced to the theater.
Answer:
It really depends on the kid...I can't remember when we started taking our kids to the movies but probably by the age of 4. I think if you go into it knowing that you might have to leave...then you're okay!
Answer:
We took our daughter to her first movie on her 2nd b-day "Polar Express". She hung on every word. I think my husband and I had more fun watching her reactions than we did watching the movie. We went to an early "matinee" show so the cost was cheaper just in case she didn't want to sit & watch & we had to leave. She was great and we have been to see many movies since. I think it's good for them to learn to sit quietly and watch something in a setting that's away from home, it's good social skills.
Answer:
I think your are fine! 4 is a good age and old enough! We took our kids for the first time to see CARS and we had a 4 year old, 2 year old and I don't remember how old our baby was probably around 6 months. They all did good. My 2 yr ds did better than my dd but he is SO into cars so he was hooked. That is the only movie we have seen so far at the theatre, but I'm taking my 4 yr old girl to see Charlotte's Web next week when we are done reading the book.
Answer:
Right before Christmas we took our son to see Happy Feet. He was 21 months at the time and sat through the whole thing and loved it! He loves music and got up at the end and was dancing in the aisle during the entire credits! It was one of the cutest things I have ever seen! Now whenever he sees anything to do with that movie he says "see pendin (penguin) feet?" He wants to see it again! We don't usually buy videos but we will be getting the video when it comes out!
