Jan challenge-how did everyone do?

Ask:
I ended up spending $4.00 at Stuff on 2 pairs of pants my dd will wear next year. My downfall was the used bookstore where I spent $20.00 this month. But I didn't buy anything else we didn't absolutely need.

Anyone up for a Feb challenge?

My goals will be again to only buy what we absolutely need. My pantry looks pretty good so I should only need eggs, milk, fresh fruit, yogurt, some meat and bread. I shouldn't need any personal or household items except dog food and cat litter.

I am not going to go the the bookstore this month. (yes I love to read) My plan is to read what I have here and take a bag next month to turn in for credit.

I'll need to buy dh a birthday present.
Answer:

I did really well in January, although I could have done better. I hit McD's a few times (although less than usual...) and I bought a bunch of used books. Other than that, I did very well.

But in February, I need to eat out even less and continue NOT shopping... I think I can do it!!!!
Answer:

I'd like to take the challenge. I'm quitting later this year to be a SAHM and this is the first month we are going to use hubby's check only - we are putting mine on the truck payment and to pay the expenses we won't have when I'm home and the rest in savings... so this is a perfect challenge for me!
Answer:

I BOMBED this last week. But overall, I think it went okay, just not as good as it should have. I havn't done my final $#s, We are in the black so thats okay, but I wanted to have alot left over to put in our savings.

I'm up for the Feb challenge.

I did pretty good this month. I had a few weak moments, but even then I was more careful than I would have been normally. I have to do some shopping for a couple birthdays in Feb, but nothing major. I'm also buying a bike, but hopefully I will get some birthday money for that. I'm trying to use up my stockpile as my kitchen cabinets are overflowing so I should only have to by perishables and veggies.

Woo Hoo...lets go!

I'd love to take the challenge too! I'm kind of new to this, but want to try really hard this month. I too am wanting to quit my job, but the only way I can is if we really start trying to buy what we only need. I am finding more ways to use leftovers in different meals and it is amazing how much further you can go with what you have on hand! I am going to stay out of clothing stores too, even if they are having great sales-these get me in to trouble because we really don't need them.
Answer:

I'm in.

I did great in January but we just found out my special needs ds needs occupational therapy and a laptop for school - in grade 3! This is going to hurt! But I'm trying not to think of the money. I'm trying not to think of the money. I'm trying not to think of the money.

It's really hard not thinking about the money.

Make a project list of things I can do while I am at home, like paint the bathroom, organize kids rooms, go through clothes for consignment....fun, fun, fun
Answer:

Yes I'm in! What are the rules/guidelines for the challenge? I did a menu for the entire month based on what we have in the pantry. I should only have to go grocery shopping for produce/milk/etc ... What other rules are there?
