can any one tell me about it. I'm wanting to take on a job BUT they want you to b familiar with it. I have experence with EBD/ OCD kids. Is autism like that or totally different?

It's a huge subject, and many things come under the umbrella. I would suggest you google it and read up to see if you can get familiar - there are many books on it. There is a huge spectrum from low-functioning autism to high functioning, to Aspergers. Also, reading through the posts in this section can give you a little bit of light on the subject. Wikipedia is a good place to start, definition wise.
Also, I don't know what EBD means, but OCD can sometimes be a symptom under autism, but the two aren't always hand in hand. If it's a job that may mean a lot to you, this board, wikipedia and googling can be a good start - the library can help, but I know you'll find a lot on the web.
