i need school lunch ideas

Ask:
Daughter is starting kindergarten next month, and I would appreciate everyone's ideas for packing school lunch. Any tips for keeping things cold (besides ice packs). I read you can freeze juice boxes.
Answer:

you can freeze yogurt tubes that will help keep things cold. i use a squishy ice pack that is very small. or if you put your yogurt in a small container then freeze it. and freeze drinks. i use a reusable juicebox for dd's lunches and i freeze that.

I also freeze applesauce to keep other things cool. My son has a thermos for drinks. I usually have him take milk so I pour just a bit in the night before and put in the freezer, then fill up in the morning. My DS is very slow eater so we try to pack things that can be eaten quickly. We also pack a straw so that he can just stick it in the thermos instead of spending time trying to pour into the little cup and spilling . . .

Have your child practice opening containers at home to make sure she doesn't spend 1/2 the lunch hour just trying to get to the applesauce, peaches, etc. My DS had a terrible time opening things.

My DD loves to take a hot dog in her Thermos. I tell her let the lunch lady open it (they have lunch aides that contol the lunchroom, help the kids, etc).

She likes the King's hawaiian bread dinner rolls, and will take one or two, and sliced ham or turkey. Now she won't eat it as a sandwich usually, she wants the meat rolled separately, like you see on a cold cut tray!

We are allowed to go have lunch with her too, so sometimes I'll grab Subway and head to school for lunch with my little DD.

She doesn't really care to buy lunch, but she'll buy ice cream!
Thanks for asking this question, she is picky, no dips, dressings, pudding, cheese....I need help too!
Answer:

My dd loves cold chicken nuggets?? I don't know why, my ds doesn't! But there are a bunch of kid's in my nieces class who bring in a baggie of cold chicken nuggets to lunch. When my sis told me about this, I decided to give it a try at home so I baked a couple nuggets put um in the frige and my dd ate those for snack until they were all. I will be putting these in her lunch on a regular basis for sure
