How much debt do you have?

Ask:
If you had to write a check today to cover your debt, how much would you need?

Mine would be:

$64,000 mortgage (12 years remaining)
$ 5,700 credit card/line of credit combined
$ 8,000 truck loan #1 (pd in full Oct 07)
$ 5,900 truck loan #2 (pd in full Nov 08)
$83,600 Total
Answer:

Ok you are going to hate me.....

$767.52---Medical Bills

No car payments
No house payments we rent

BUT and that is a BIG BUT......We just filed bankruptcy in August and at that point we were $52,000 in debt. May not seem like much but our income was under what our monthly payments were because of high interest rates and bad credit. Plus 3 kids.
Answer:

Our only outstanding debt is our mortgage which has a remainer of a little less than $80,000. We only owe for 9 more years. We have no credit card debt (we charge but pay the balance each month), no car payments currently (but we need a new one soon), no equity line of credit. My oldest dd starts college in 18 months, so not sure how we'll manage all of that. My dh & I are older with two children approaching college age, so we don't plan to add any more debt unless we have to. My van is getting on it's last leg, but we're waiting to see if we settle either of our parents estates soon, so we can use that to pay cash for a vehicle.
Answer:

I have no idea of the number but we have our mortgage, my van, and dh's car(which will be paid off by the end of the year). We do not have any credit card debt because we pay it off every month
Answer:

Our mortgage is a 30 year and we have 27 more to go-
mortgage---$37,748.93
truck --- 23,369.43
suburban---- 21,898.94

Wow thats alot for me to think about . I paid off the credit card 71.03 and best buy 2,891.00 today. I try to add an extra 175.00 to the house payment each month but am thinking of adding it to the vehicles because the interest rate is so much more -- house is just 5.75%.
Answer:

$395,000. Mortgage 5.75%

$4,325. CC @ 0% I might pay this off with part of our tax refund just to have less debt.
We get 5% on one of our savings accounts. What do you think?

$12,532. My suv. We have 4 other cars we owe nothing on. Three teenagers and dh's.

$10,000. For our ds's college tuition. This is per year after $15,000. deducted in
scholarship funds. This will be a recurring debt for quite a few years to come,
since we have three more behind him. He also will be attending Law
school in the fall of '08. He may be on his own for that.

This is such huge accomplishment for us. A few years back we were $70,000.+ in CC debt, about $65,000+ in auto debt, same mortgage.
Answer:

I seem to be the only one who doesn't consider a mortgage and auto payments "debt." When you say debt, I think of credit cards or personal loans, that type of thing.
If you consider M and A then mine looks horrible!
Mortgage 405,000 we just bought last year so 29 more years but we will be selling for profit in 2-3 years. So I guess that's why I don't think of it as debt
My Van 17,000
His Car 34,000
I don't want to total that!
Our last CC is being paid off with Tax return, yeah!
Answer:

I don't consider house payments debt either.

But we do have about 112,000 left on our mortgage. We do not have any car payments, no medical bills, but maybe 10,0000 in CC's?
Answer:

i agree, my house and my car aren't 'debt'. But if others consider it, then I'm over $100K in debt!

HOuse/morgage $104,000 (only been here 5 years)
Car $12K (still have 3 years left to pay on it
loans(stedent and otherwise)about $25K
CCs $3K

GEEZE LOUISE! NO wonder I'm broke!

That is very true, a mortgage is more of an investment. We bought our house for 280,000 in 2002, it is now worth over 400,000
