Answer:
Oh my goodness. . .
I am so sorry that you are having to deal with this. Prayers are lifted for your family.
Answer:
wow! our payment went up too but only by 1$. thank the lord it didn't go up anymore. we've been adjusting to the new baby budget so i think i'd have a coronary!!! i feel for you!!
Answer:
I dont understand how that happened. It was short for an entire year and now you have to make it up?? Isnt there someone at the bank you can talk to. It isnt really your fault that the estimate for the escrow was off, was it?
Answer:
I know that ours has jumped by $200 before, but never THAT much. I would definitely be calling to check. Maybe there is something they can do to help!
Answer:
That is a huge increase. Our has only gone up or down about $10 over the 4 years we have had our house. We have gotten back an escrow refund the last 2 years. I got a check last month and that's what bought our chair rail and crown molding for bedrooms. Did property tax go up? Can you find a cheaper home owners insurance?
Answer:
WOW!! That's a huge jump!! Ours has been adjusted up or down before but never for that big of a difference.
Answer:
I bet I know why it went up. Don't you live in Florida? And in the Cocoa Beach area? I think I am remembering right. Homeowners insurance!!! It has gotten really out of hand here.
You guys did not believe me when I said homeowners insurance is a more serious problem than health insurance in Florida. It is NO joke! (in the universal health insurance thread from last week) I am not saying health insurance is NOT an issue, just not as immediate as homeowners for a lot of us who are young and relatively healthy.
My homeowners policy doubled last year and this year it is expected to double as well. There are people here (granted they live on the water, but the bay, not the ocean) who pay $10,000 a year in homeowners insurance for a 2000 sf home.
Doesn't matter where you live in Florida either - coastal/noncoastal, never had a claim whatever. We are all paying for the disaster called Katrina.
Off my soapbox now.
I am really sorry this is happening to you. We are all in danger about it. It seems to be happening more and more lately. I sure hope this special session the legislature is having right now has some sort of solution.
Answer:
Oh, I feel for you - the Exact same thing happened to us and for the exact same amount!!! It is tough. We have only a few months to go on this, though, in a few months we should be back on an even keel. Is there any way you could borrow the money (relatives? ) that could tide you over until you get 'caught up'?
We are making it but it is tight.
Answer:
This should not have a surprise, as you get tax and insurance statements ahead of time. Therefore, see why it went up and attack the cause. Frankly, I was afraid we were going to have to sell our home simply because of the increase in value affecting the taxes. Thankfully, that didn't happen. If yours is due to taxes, try to fight it. This could also be an inaccuracy. If it's due to insurance, shop around. This is a huge increase. Ouch!
